Occ Summary

This position collaborates with heal thcareproviders by performing avariety of clerical duties to support pat ientcare.Duties includegreeting patients and visitors, answering the te lephone,responding topatient's requests, accessing the electronic medica l record(EMR),scheduling appointments and providing general clerical sup portasneededby the department. This position will consistently exhibits excellentcustomer service skills.

Work Performed

Answ erpatient signals and relay request to appropriate individual.Place call sforconsultations as neededUnderstand and is able to use the manual back upsystem as needed.Assemble and maintain patient charts from admission t hrough dischargePrepare and uploadpaper documents into the electronic m edical record(EMR).Navigate electronic medical record, access patient in formation, generatereports, schedule appointments and manage task list.U seavailable technology to request and coordinate patient transport.Assig nnursing staff to communication systems.Assist in reviewing clerical dut ies and responsibilities with new staffmembers.Order supplies for theuni t; maintain inventory and replenish asnecessary.Copy, file, mail and/ord istribute materials as appropriate.Maintain records as required by theun it (i.e. time sheets, continuingeducation information, etc.).Schedulemai ntenance in automated schedule system as directed by NurseManagerordesig neeGenerate reports as directed by Nurse Manager or designee (Example:co mpliance)Participate in review of activities and processes for areaofwor k.Assists in implementing changes to effect continual improvementinservi ces provided; and complies with regulatory and legal requirements.Exhibi tprofessional communication skill when answering the telephoneand intera cting with patients, visitors and other staff members.Roundandgreetpatie nts each shift and explain their role.Greets patients, visitors, physici ans and employees in a pleasant mannerand refersto appropriate areasas needed.Answers phones, screens and refers calls as appropriate,deliversm essages and provides information to patients, visitorsand personneluponr equest.Assist unit management in tracking inventory,stocking issues andm aintaining adequate patient caresupplies.Perform other related dutiesin cidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Completion of a Level I - Nurse Aide education program approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing or successful completion of the NC - approved Nurse Aide I competency test. High school diploma or equivalent required.

Currently listed as a Nursing Assistant (NAI) with the Division of Facility Services with no substantiated findings or pending of abuse, fraud, neglect or misappropriation of property. AHA Basic Healthcare provider certification must be maintained/ completed by the end of new hire orientation, which typically takes place during the first week of employment.
