Job description

Rhombus has an urgent and immediate need for a Mid to Senior Data Engineer with strong geospatial skills to join our team on-site in Washington D.C. In this role, you will be a part of a talented team of data engineers using geospatial and data manipulation techniques to provide time sensitive, innovative analytics to mission-critical partners and combatant commands. 

As a Geospatial Data Engineer at Rhombus you will design, develop, and launch efficient and reliable data pipelines to ETL, analyze, and model data and to provide intuitive analytics from Rhombus’ large and complex datasets. You’ll be working closely with clients towards the goal of increasing organizational and production efficiency and provide knowledge of geospatial data engineering/software development. To support deployment of some visualization, to develop and deploy web-based applications which can predict, explain, or analyze data. Candidates are expected to be highly proficient in Python.

Responsibilities

  • In this role, you will be a part of a talented team of data engineers using geospatial and data manipulation techniques to provide time sensitive, innovative analytics to mission-critical partners and combatant commands
  • In this position you will be focused on performing geospatial data engineering, data science, and data analysis to extract and analyze large and complex data sets, and to able to work with Subject Matter Experts to select and apply the appropriate analytical and visualization techniques
  • You will collaborate with the team to develop innovative statistical and geospatial workflows and automate them to deliver insights to our clients
  • Utilize Python and relevant libraries for spatial analytics
  • Scripting in python to automate geospatial workflow, connecting to existing APIs to feed algorithms and/or front-end UIs
  • Undertake statistical analyses to enhance data processing, manipulate large scale data sets, and provide analytic insights
  • Will work closely with client towards goal of increasing organizational and production efficiency and provide knowledge of geospatial data engineering/software development

Qualifications

  • At minimum BA/BS in Geography, Remote Sensing, Data Science, Computer Science, etc. MA/MS and PhD’s preferred
  • Geospatial knowledge and experience with at least two technologies (priorities: Python, Rasterio/GDAL, Geopandas, Dask/Joblib, ArcGIS, QGIS)
  • Experience working with geographic data (Cloud Optimized GeoTIFF (COG), NITF, geojson, KML, Shapefiles etc.) and techniques (Change Detection, Object Detection etc.)
  • Experience creating maps, charts, and other graphics to communicate analytics to stakeholders
  • Experience configuration geoservers, geodatabases, and working within CUI/TS environments
  • Strong background in database management solutions, familiarity with databases such as MySQL and Oracle
  • A bonus to have military and/or DoD/IC experience in any of the following disciplines: data science, computer vision, target development, geospatial, or statistical analysis
  • Active Secret TS/SCI clearance
