Summary

The District Sales Manager is responsible for working with new and established accounts to grow sales volume. This role will manage existing customers and prospect for new potential truss fabricators within their assigned territory. This individual will make calls to architects, engineers, contractors, developers and building officials to promote the use of cold formed steel trusses. The District Sales Manager will be expected to gain information of the market within their territory and use that to assist in growth of the territory, while keeping in mind company profit and promoting MiTek Steel Framing.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

  • This individual must be based in Arizona, Nevada or Utah**

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Profitably grow existing accounts and establish new accounts within an assigned territory
  • Plan and schedule time and travel to maximize territory coverage and resources – up to 80% travel
  • Provide professional presentations to prospective Fabricators, Architects and Engineers
  • Represent MiTek and MiTek Steel Framing at trade shows
  • Make cold calls to Architects, Engineers, Contractors, Building Officials, and other potential clients to grow sales within the assigned territory
  • Identify prospective customers by using business directories, following leads from existing clients, participating in organizations and clubs, and attending trade shows and conferences
  • Monitor market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales
  • Perform administrative duties such as preparing sales budgets and reports, keeping sales records, and filing expense account reports

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of outside sales experience required
  • Must have understanding of the construction industry and building processes, preferably commercial construction
  • Ability to visit clients onsite at truss plants and be comfortable in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with engineers, architects, and other key members of the construction process to present and sell MiTek products
  • Proven track record of success in sales in an assigned territory
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to lead and facilitate sales and product presentations
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to manage and resolve difficult customer situations and respond promptly to customer needs
  • Ability to effectively build relationships with customers and co-workers 
  • Must be highly organized and have strong time management skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a company provided vehicle in a safe, professional manner
  • Ability to travel up to 80% of the time within assigned territory and other locations as needed

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in building products sales highly preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of cold-formed steel a big plus
  • Truss and wall panel knowledge highly preferred
  • Sales experience in a blend of established and unestablished territories a plus
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD (Software) a plus
