Your Day to Day: 

Role Purpose

Responsible for leading the strategy to deliver quality products across the Distribution ecosystem. This role coordinates among business stakeholders, software developers, technical engineers, designers, data analysts, and other functional subject matter experts to create a comprehensive and holistic roadmap that address both short term and long-term needs. They guide in-depth business reviews, communicate and present across all levels of the organization and support cross-functional product teams. The Group Product Manager will also prioritize and activate the roadmap, ultimately managing the end-to-end product lifecycle from ideation to launch to adoption to optimization in an agile methodology, pivoting as needed in response to stakeholder and customer needs. The Group Product Manager is skilled and experienced in generating innovative ideas for growth within their respective areas and must exhibit the ability to lead senior-level Product Managers and/or leads teams of Product Managers that are responsible for higher-profile, more impactful products. 

Key Accountabilities

Strategy

  • Provides input and planning guidance to the overall distribution strategy incorporating an understanding of IHG objectives, partners, and system capabilities
  • Engages with and champions internal and external partner and stakeholder needs
  • Provides input to the Distribution roadmap, including prioritization, delivery, and resource needs.
  • Owns and manages the Distribution Connectivity pipeline and all partner onboarding processes.
  • Develops rapport with and elicits regular feedback from partners and internal stakeholders to assess their needs and support the maintenance of connectivity and operational processes
  • Applies domain expertise to provide thought leadership and translate vision into action to drive business growth.
  • Analyze the internal landscape to identify opportunities to improve IHG systems (GRS, HCM, etc.) in support of the distribution strategy
  • Engage with and analyze the external Distribution landscape to identify opportunities to improve IHG systems and processes, explore new connectivity methods, and support the integration of channel partners
  • Gathers external market insights to inform the overall distribution

Execution

  • Leads a team (3) of Atlanta-based Product Managers, supporting Connectivity.
  • Provides leadership, mentoring, and coaching to Product Managers. 
  • Conducts regular check-ins, and annual and mid-year reviews, reviewing individual development plans and providing performance feedback to support career development, performance, and growth.
  • Attracts, retains, and develops top talent to build a world-class Product Management Team
  • Develops Talent: Developing people to meet both their career goals and the organization's goals
  • Implements the strategy, Roadmap, and Connectivity pipeline as set by Distribution leadership
  • Serves as an SME interfacing with other business units/owners in the organization supporting initiatives impacting Distribution
  • Authors and maintains technical documentation, including specifications and APIs (both XML & JSON).
  • Designs and implements APIs and services, leveraging OpenTravel Alliance messaging standards.
  • Functions as a Product Owner with Distribution technical teams, assisting in the prioritization of delivery of value.
  • Gathers and documents requirements and drives the delivery of functionality across IHG systems, including B2B, GRS, HCM, and Middleware to support new and existing connectivity methods.
  • Develops and maintains best practices, internal support documents, and user guides to support connectivity onboarding and processing.
  • Drive improvements across Distribution messaging, systems, and processes to increase efficiencies
  • Partners closely with internal Technology teams to drive the delivery of the Distribution roadmap and key projects impacting distribution capabilities.
  • Partners with internal Technology to define, monitor, and analyze metrics that inform the success of APIs, partners, and overall platform performance
  • Owns and manages relationship/engagement with stakeholders across Distribution, Sales, Performance Marketing, and others.
  • Provides regular updates to leadership about partner, API, and overall roadmap performance
  • Engages with Connectivity partners to recommend/propose solutions to partner and stakeholder issues and new connectivity
  • Drives Engagement: Creating a climate where people are motivated to do their best to help the organization achieve its objectives

Operations & Support

  • Provides support to B2B and Distribution stakeholders to resolve issues in a timely manner, including being on-call for critical production issues.
  • Escalate issues/concerns across Distribution to appropriate leadership w/recommendations for resolution
  • Makes suggestions to drive operational excellence, create internal customer satisfaction, and meet operational metrics

What We Need From You: 

Key Skills & Experiences

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

Experience

10+ years of progressive work-related experience as a Product Manager or Sr. Product Manager with demonstrated proficiency in one or multiple disciplines/technologies/processes related to the position including product and/or project management, travel technology systems (GDS, OTAs, PMS and other distribution technology), or vendor relationship management.

Skills & Technical Experience

  • Experience managing medium to large partner integration/implementation projects, including gathering and managing requirements, stakeholder communication, change management, and hand-off
  • Experience leading Agile technology teams as a scrum master or product owner
  • Experience authoring and maintaining technical documentation, including specifications and APIs (both XML & JSON)
  • Experienced with designing and implementing APIs and services, leveraging OpenTravel Alliance messaging standards.
  • Mastery of working as a Product Manager in a modern software development-based enterprise environment and overseeing multiple products
  • Mastery of working as part of a collaborative, cross-functional, modern software design and development team
  • Mastery of identifying goals, metrics, and analytics to measure product value
  • Able to recognize when and how to pivot with ease and effectively deliver. 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide in-depth analysis of technical solutions and provide feedback to technology teams and leadership
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding in the areas of hotel operations concepts, project management, technology, communication systems, and distribution systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in conceptualizing and translating business requirements into specific system functionality.
  • Demonstrated project management experience in organizing, planning and executing small to medium sized projects from conception thorough implementation.
  • Demonstrated deep knowledge and understanding of Distribution technology including products.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills to provide information to clients, vendors, senior management and staff. 
  • Demonstrated ability to present new concepts, research findings, and business outcomes to various groups including corporate clients, senior management, potential vendors, and industry consultants. 
  • Demonstrated program management experience with modern, established product management processes in organizing, planning and executing projects from conception through implementation. Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks/clients required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt tactics and strategies to fast-moving, rapidly evolving marketplace required 
  • Experience in formal requirements methodologies such as vision, scope, context, use cases, etc.

Preferred

  • Demonstrated hotel industry knowledge reflecting the entire customer experience journey (reservations – stay – loyalty – on-property, and ongoing relationship management). 
  • Interpersonal Savvy: Relating openly and comfortably with diverse groups of people
  • Manages Complexity: Making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems
  • Organizational Savvy: Maneuvering comfortably through complex policy, process, and people-related organizational dynamics
