Project Summary:

The purpose of Afghanistan Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Activity (AMELA) is to provide monitoring, evaluation, and learning support services/assistance to strengthen the implementation of USAID development programs in Afghanistan, and to build the technical monitoring and evaluation (M&E) knowledge and skills of USAID/Afghanistan Mission staff and stakeholders. The services provided under AMELA will contribute to supporting USAID/Afghanistan as an effective development organization with strong learning and adaptive management processes.

Position Summary:

The Technical Reporting Supervisor will be working closely with the Component 2 Monitoring Support Services team and AMELA Copy Editor. The Supervisor will be responsible for managing the production of AMELA’s high volume of monthly technical reporting deliverables. These products will primarily consist of third-party monitoring (TPM) reports for USAID/Afghanistan development and USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) activities. The Supervisor will also assist as needed with the production of Component 1 Evaluation Support Services evaluation, assessment, and special studies reports, as well as AMELA monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and work plans. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Component 2 TPM leadership and AMELA Copy Editor to manage the production of multiple development and BHA activity TPM reports on a monthly basis, which include 15-30 reports, ranging in length from 5-80 pages, with an average of 20-40 pages.
  • Work closely with Component 1 evaluation leadership to assist with production of evaluation, assessment, and special study reports developed for Component 1, 3, and 4 assignments as needed.
  • Assist the Chief of Party (COP) in production of monthly, quarterly, annual reports and work plans as needed.
  • Assist with the revision and presentation of assignment work plans, report annexes, and data collection instruments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by AMELA management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in international relations, social sciences, English, journalism, creative writing, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum three years of experience in international development, humanitarian assistance, international affairs, journalism, and/or writing-related work is required.
  • Experience working in Afghanistan preferred.
  • Knowledge of USAID style guidelines preferred.
  • Ability to work remotely with multiple operating units in disparate global time zones under consistent tight deadlines required.
  • Strong English-language communication, writing, and interpersonal skills are required.
