Main purpose of the role/Job Summary:

The Business Development Manager is accountable for the revenue growth withinthe South West region . To include new products, services, hire, repairs, optimization, portable vacuum and service contracts amongst many others. You will be able to demonstrate solid technical competence to increase production and efficiencies for our customers through service offerings. The role will cover both new and existing customers and will involve increasing the service revenue opportunities through both direct sales and colleagues where joint account development opportunities exist.


Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Experience and knowledge of the management and operation of the UK Municipal Water companies including AMP periods, Framework Agreements, Tier 1 and other contractor relationships and approval protocols.
  • Prepare and coordinate sales and growth plan by reviewing, analysing and reporting business potential, competitors analysis and prepare and submit reports on business activities in your sales area.
  • Assure that existing customers, prospective companies and resellers are regularly visited.
  • Using technical skills to demonstrate to potential customers the usefulness of the product or service and how it may suit the customer better than competing products.
  • Searching for new clients who could benefit from our products and services in a designated sales region.
  • Travelling and overnights will be required as part of this role.
  • Provide ‘Key account’ management within the designated sales region or product line.
  • Increase and develop the levels of customer satisfaction through increased contact with all customers.
  • Identify opportunities to grow business, develop, sell and maximise the repair, service exchange, hire, support services and portable vacuum business.
  • Liaising with other members of the internal sales/service team and other technical experts.
  • To prepare customer quotations as required.
  • Managing and interpreting customer requirements.
  • Meeting regular sales targets.
  • Comply with health and safety procedures and instructions.
  • Establishing new, and maintaining existing, relationships with customers.
  • Deliver/support customer seminars and training as required to maintain good customer relationship.
  • This is primarily a customer facing role and will take responsibility for a high level of customer engagement to enable relationship building, technology & application presentations, product presentations, commercial and technical reviews, marketing activities by attending trade shows, Lunch and Learns and conferences.
  • Track and report out regularly the funnel, booking, revenue and any other pertinent KPI’s for performance measurement. Provide accurate and timely reporting for sales territory or product line. Including Activity/Client Contact plan, Sales Funnel, Sales Forecast, Visit/Meeting Reports, Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly reporting and CRM updates.
  • Increase product knowledge through educational offerings, marketing materials, communications and technology so that the focus is on selling solutions, not products.
