MidAmerican Energy Company is seeking a student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, business analytics, management, computer science, management information systems, or related field graduating later than August 2024. Business Analyst interns will be exposed to a variety of projects and activities that occur within the energy industry. Interns will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills learned through college and apply them to the workplace. The position is temporary, nonexempt, and full-time/hourly through the summer.

Interns will have the opportunity to participate in the annual three-day summer intern event in Des Moines, Iowa where they will have the opportunity to tour state-of-the-art facilities, network with leadership, and gain a broader understanding of MidAmerican Energy Company. Other panels, lunch and learns, and events will be happening throughout the summer to give our interns the best experience.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

Assists in the research, analysis and implementation of procedures or updates to customer operations procedures and systems. Provides data and analytical support to customer operations.

Extracts and analyzes data from work order systems to identify which projects are in jeopardy of not making requested completion date.

Assesses training needs and assists in development of curriculum/training materials. Provides daily support including, but not limited to, work order analysis, project status updates, assistance in addressing customer project issues.

Coordinate and participate in major improvement initiatives such as process reviews, policy reviews, etc.

Supports process improvements initiatives by tracking and reporting on process improvement projects.

Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Perform responsibilities as directed within determined time frames and with a high degree of accuracy.

Maintain sensitive and confidential information regarding company information.

Ensure all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.

Strong PC skills including working knowledge and proficiency with all Microsoft office applications.

Effective analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to compile and analyze data and to recommend appropriate course of action.

Effective project management skills.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.

Planning skills to develop plans and forecasts and to manage and coordinate projects.

Qualifications

Must be a current college student, sophomore status or higher pursuing a bachelor's degree program in business, business analytics, management, computer science, management information systems, or related field.

Must be available to work May-August 2024.
