Job Description

DIRECTOR, STRATEGIC INITIATIVES AND MARKET INSIGHTS, Resource Development (RD), to collaborate with RD colleagues, faculty, academic leadership, and administrators across MIT to develop, implement, and manage plans, budgets, giving opportunities, and fundraising strategies for Institute initiatives, funding priorities, and campaigns. Will serve as subject matter expert and liaison on those initiatives, managing project plans, executing strategies, and reporting on/communicating progress updates. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; five years’ experience in a complex, nonprofit, fundraising strategy setting, including managing programs/projects and developing strategies; two years’ experience supervising staff, setting goals, and managing performance and budgets; excellent organizational, planning, problem-solving, analytical, time management, presentation, project management, leadership, diplomacy, motivational, and written and oral communication skills; ability to lead up, across, and down multiple areas; attention to accuracy, quality, and time sensitivity; comfort with academic, scientific, and/or technical materials; experience and fluency with market research techniques and financial and statistical analysis; tact and discretion with confidential information; Microsoft Office fluency; high-level proficiency with analytical software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or their equivalents); understanding of relational databases, philanthropy and fundraising news, research databases., and online resources to conduct related queries and data mining; and ability to become proficient in new technologies/systems. Must be able to manage multiple projects in a complex, fast-paced, service-oriented environment; work strategically; be open to change; convey information clearly and concisely; take initiative, work independently, and anticipate consequences of actions; influence others to move toward a common vision/goal; and build strong teams that apply diverse skills and perspectives. PREFERRED: advanced degree; experience in higher education; and knowledge of prospect development, pipeline management, library science, and/or information management. Job #23703-10

This is a hybrid position with a combination of on-campus and remote work.
