PURPOSE OF ROLE

Reporting to the Regional Procurement Manager based in Singapore, the Korea Procurement Specialist holds a key role in formulating local indirect procurement strategies which covers sourcing, vendor management, demand management, scope optimization, and indirect purchase of goods and services that are essential for business operations. The role is responsible to analyze cost optimization opportunities through procurement cycle in relevant countries in order to support the business and provide the business with insights to improve cost efficiency. It will also support the Korea Finance team to run the operations as one team. 

Job Description

  • Develop local strategic sourcing plan
  • Drive procurement strategy for various indirect procurement categories (Professional services, IT, Marketing, Facilities, Travel, Meetings, etc.)
  • Understand business priorities by aligning with internal stakeholders and translate them into procurement strategies including demand management
  • Able to influence the decision makers
  • Lead supplier selection activities, lead negotiations, and completes contracts with suppliers.
  • Negotiate good contractual rate and terms – improve profitability and cashflow.
  • Build and manage strong supplier relationship
  • Provide input on risk mitigation, business continuity, cost management and operation strategies
  • Assess current and evolving business models in the marketplace
  • Identify challenging contract risk areas. Negotiate acceptable contracting outcomes using known solutions. Advise business partners on contract risk areas
  • Provide professional advice to internal stakeholders on best practices in sourcing, contract management and supplier management
  • Perform spend analysis on procurement data to formulate local procurement strategies aimed at improving procurement management efficiency
  • Ad-hoc tasks, projects and initiatives as assigned by supervisors
  • Provide business with insights through cost effectiveness analysis
  • Create management reports
  • Stakeholder management
  • Support the Korea Finance team to run the operations

Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting or related professional qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement
  • Leadership qualities and excellent influencing and interpersonal skills. 
  • Good understanding of local market’s complexity, culture, contract landscape, local practices & regulation
  • Able to liaise effectively with vendors and have contract negotiation skills covering complex agreements
  • Excellent analytical skills, coupled with general business understanding and the ability to pro-actively identify new opportunities, building organizational commitment to act on these
  • Excellent written and presentation skills
  • Good networking skills
  • Working Knowledge of Coupa or other spend management platform
  • Strong business partner skills, ability to work and influence with functional leads
  • Solid business acumen skills with strong procurement and finance background
  • Knowledge of SAP is required
  • Able to promote and lead organizational change initiatives
  • Finance experience is preferred
