About the Team

The Automotive Systems Division (ASD) team is looking for an Advanced Development (A/D) Mechanical Engineer with a strong interest to work on vehicle systems. The engineer will be working on aspects of in-cabin sound systems for future generations of Bose Automotive Audio Systems. 

The A/D team prefers an experienced and hands-on engineer. The development tasks involve the mechanical design of electronic prototype assemblies and tools and systems, augmented with structural simulation, thermal design, and mechanical component analysis capabilities. 

About the Job

Responsible for static, dynamic design, and analysis of mechanical systems, equipment and packages. Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Provides design information to drafting for packaging documentation.

The initial work focuses on in-cabin audio and video systems and the analysis of the performance of such systems under driving conditions. You will continuously work with audio research team to combine your work into acoustic prototype vehicles. The work will involve driving and influencing suppliers to get the best performance out of their parts and designs. Over time the work might also involve working with OEM customers. Next topic involve thermal design aspects of electronic assemblies and structural design aspect of complex IC in them.

About You

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent degree
  • 3+ years of experience.
  • Experienced with solid modeling in M-CAD tools (Ex. Siemens NX, SolidWorks, etc.)
  • Understand the design rules for plastic injection molding and metal forming.
  • Proficiency in FAE tools (Ex. CFD for thermal design, Ansys for structural design, etc.)
  • DFMEA experience is very welcome.
  • Decent mathematical modeling skills and intuition
  • Working knowledge and some exposure to basic electronic hardware design.
  • Experience with basic lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, multi-meters, etc.)
  • Analyze complex technical problems and propose design of comprehensive solutions.
  • Excellent communication and documentation habits and skills.

Nice to have experience in any of these areas:

  • Contribute to all phases of the software lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, test coordination, release, support, and documentation.
  • Natural interest and experience working on cars and audio systems.
  • Knowledge of optics or camera systems.
  • Exposure to Linux operating systems
