Director, Scientific Services- Patient Centered Solutions

Role & Responsibilities

This Director, Scientific Services role is pivotal within this fast-growing, highly successful team that operates from multiple locations across the US and Europe. We are IQVIA’s global center of excellence for experts in strategic consulting, COAs, psychology, epidemiology, regulatory strategy, statistics and psychometrics, and digital data collection. The demand for PCS scientific capabilities is growing and the team is committed to providing excellence in its core PCS services. It seeks to drive thought leadership and innovation through developing novel strategic offerings, new technology platforms and data.

For this role, we are looking for someone who has subject matter expertise in the following areas: COA development, preference research, mixed methods approaches, integration between patient-reported and clinical/HEOR data, and selling, designing, and delivering patient-centric science studies in the clinical development and/or late-phase/commercial space.

You will join a thriving PCS business with existing client accounts with scope for expansion, and the support of a broad array of IQVIA colleagues with connections to introduce PCS to new clients. Your success will be measured by the ability to successfully partner with other PCS business leaders to convert pipeline opportunities, lead complex projects, coach, and professionally develop team members, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the PCS function.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide subject matter expertise to COA development projects
  • Develop and deliver insightful, value-added strategies that address complex client issues in the PCS field
  • Contribute to sales efforts, specifically responding to proposals, to win PCS work
  • Oversee scientific aspects of PCS delivery teams who are executing consulting projects
  • Provide scientific direction, advice, and intellectual leadership to clients and delivery teams
  • Lead PCS scientific solution building and thought leadership initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for expansion of PCS consulting service offerings
  • Support the development of the PCS scientific team and global community within IQVIA

Candidates interested in joining our Patient Centered Solutions team as a Director, Scientific Services will need:

  • Strong experience of PCS/Patient Centered Outcomes research projects generating robust data suitable for regulators, payers or for publication
  • Expertise in COA development
  • 8+ years’ experience in pharmaceutical and/or healthcare consulting within a Professional Services business with evidence of career progression
  • Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline (biological sciences, public health, epidemiology, psychology, sociology, health economics or equivalent experience); PhD highly preferred
  • Track record fostering client relationships, leadership, and people development
  • Ability to engage clients and direct scientific project teams on patient-centered research and the associated methods, in a meaningful manner with depth of content knowledge
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills including presentations, chairing meetings, external conference presentations, workshop facilitation, business and report writing
  • An entrepreneurial nature and interest in developing new client offerings and solutions and in building the capability to deliver the same
  • Willingness and ability to travel (up to 25%)
