The role of Supplier Development and Quality Engineer sits within our Brachy and Neuro Business Line procurement departments. 

The primary objective of the Supplier Development and Quality Engineer role is to improve the Elekta Brachy & Neuro Business Line's supplier base and ensure top-quality output at a reasonable cost and with timely delivery. To achieve this, you will collaborate with the suppliers to address quality issues effectively. You will use appropriate problem-solving tools to conduct root cause analysis, implement effective containment, and prevent the recurrence of quality problems. This may involve horizontal deployment across other product lines if necessary. 

To excel in your role, you will be required to collaborate with suppliers to develop quality plans that promote a zero-defect culture. This will help reduce the need for upstream inspection and testing activities while improving yield. Effective communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external interfaces, including suppliers, procurement managers, category heads, procurement heads, R&D, manufacturing, and service teams, are essential to ensure that customer requirements are fully understood and achieved. 

What you’ll do at Elekta 

The Supplier Development and Quality Engineer responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 

  • In general, own the quality aspects of the Elekta – Supplier relationships. 
  • Perform supplier audits and follow-up on findings. 
  • Support quality related processes and procedural changes. 
  • Write and authorise quality documents and forms. 
  • Support in the delivery of projects on time and at the right quality and cost. 
  • Drive improved methods of working internally and at our suppliers (e.g. LEAN, Sig Sigma, etc.). 
  • Support the Make/Buy decision process. 
  • Actively engage and participate in the Product Creation Process and Product Change and Maintenance Projects to ensure product quality in the supply base. 
  • Use risk management to assess new and existing supply chain processes and implement mitigation action plans as required. 
  • Support the selection and implementation of new suppliers according to the sourcing process. Maintain the integrity of the Approved Supplier List and supplier data in relevant systems. Ensure supplier approval, supplier management and compliance documentation are maintained so Elekta is always audit-ready. 
  • Provide suppliers with process expertise to support improvement initiatives. 
  • Own and improve the Quality performance of assigned suppliers and support the management of suppliers’ QCDIM performance.
  • Including measurement tools and processes. 
  • Support the process of resolving supplier/product non-conformities
  • Support in/lead Corrective And Preventive Actions (CAPA’s).

  • A strong engineering, manufacturing and supplier quality/development background in a regulated industry is essential (5+ years’ experience). 
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent. 
  • Experience in auditing, preferably Lead Auditor certified. 
  • Knowledge of ISO13485, ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO14971, QSR 21, CFR Part 820 is preferred. 
  • Good command of the English and Swedish language, in both speaking and writing. 
  • Flexible with work patterns and travel within work. 
  • Continuous improvement and open mindset. 
  • Experience in 8D analysis, 5-Why’s and Fishbone.
