Educational and Experience Requirement
Bachelor’s Degree in related field. Two years relevant specialist experience or experience in a related field. Certifications may be required. Experience in Higher Education and specialized work is desirable. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of PositionPerforms highly advanced specialist duties for the Dean of Students’ Office.
Primary ResponsibilitiesPerforms highly advanced specialist duties for the Dean of Students’ Office. Reviews and interprets policies guided by the university student code of conduct, state and federal regulations, and the Texas Education Code (TEC). Receives electronic incident report forms, non-academic grievances, behavioral/medical/family alerts, and other reports related to university policies. Reviews electronic reports and determines appropriate charges for university policy violations. Prepares documents for intake and administrative review appointments, conducts investigations, determines appropriate sanctions for university policy violations, and coordinates case management for all received reports. Coordinates with emergency and risk management officials to implement safety practices and procedures, partners with University Police, Residence Life, Title IX, and other entities to administer student code of conduct procedures. Trains the university student disciplinary committee. Completes required reporting per the TEC, Clery Act, Hazing Act, and other university reporting. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications
Requires detailed knowledge of university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Requires thorough knowledge of office systems. Must have the ability to solve operational problems and make suggestions for process improvement.
Up to 20% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
