Job Description

Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech seeks a highly qualified candidate for Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Practice in Finance beginning in Fall 2024, which will be housed at the Innovation Campus in the Washington D.C. metro area. Duties will include graduate level teaching, curricular, and program development. The selected candidate will teach 9-12 credit hours each semester. Duties will include teaching various courses in finance, including but not limited to managerial economics, principles of finance, international finance, investments, corporate finance, and others as needed.

While the primary mode of instruction is in class teaching, from time-to-time online classes may be taught upon request by the department. Other duties may include participating in departmental committees, activities including advising and mentoring students, and participating in department and professional service as assigned by the department head. This position is renewed annually, based on performance. While the position does not offer tenure, it does offer a promotion path with the potential of increasingly longer-term contracts.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have experience teaching Finance curriculum or experience within the finance industry.

An MBA or Master of Science in Finance or a related field is required.

Candidates must be committed to pursuing teaching excellence, experience interacting with a diverse student population and excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in Finance

Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA) designation

Substantial experience teaching graduate level courses and/or leading and managing in a professional environment
