Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

Lead the design and implementation of process standards, procedures and guidelines and provide leadership and oversight of the end-to-end process for remuneration and related taxes globally. Own, define and design the Global Payroll strategy, governance framework and delivery model, and lead the transformation. Manage relationships between global strategic HR, Finance and GBS Stakeholders. Ensure strong data governance and management, payroll accuracy and effective collaboration with related functions (e.g. Reward, Payroll Tax).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop payroll strategy and operating model within the context of a rapidly evolving HR Shared Services model and provide tactical direction to the HR Leads across the globe
  • Defines and establishes best-in-class global payroll processes and operating model that will scale with employee growth, support the company’s wide range of compensation and benefits programs, and meet multi-jurisdictional compliance requirements 
  • Lead payroll transformation initiatives
  • Drive appropriate consistent processes across the globe and coordinate regional efforts towards global process standardization while allowing flexibility locally when required
  • Build partnerships and solicit feedback from internal and external business partners to define and develop successful, scalable processes and practices
  • Provide audit and oversight to the team's activities and processes, ensuring that pertinent internal and external compliance and government interaction standards are met
  • Implement and leverage technology that best fits our program and needs
  • Establishes an effective operational management system to track and communicate performance against internal service level agreements and external benchmarks 
  • Provides technical advice, manages employment tax audits and risks, and engages with internal and external counsel, auditors, third-party service providers, and advisors as needed 
  • Drives process and policy recommendations with stakeholders to ensure that compliance objectives are met 
  • Appropriate governance and implementation of compensation plans
  • Provide leadership over end-to-end payroll processing performed by both outsourced/3rd party vendors and CoE
  • Oversight of pension (and benefit administration for Germany only), and any associated regulatory reporting requirements
  • Manage initiatives to drive continuous improvement in payroll processing, payroll system configurations, and the control environment, to ensure payroll calculations are both timely and accurate
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in all tax compliance reporting matters
  • Lead and enhance the payroll control environment across all Hire to Retire
  • Develop performance measurements and benchmarks to drive improvement across all payroll streams in both the CoE, Shared Service environment, and third-party providers ADP
  • Align and collaborate with key partners (e.g. customers, business leaders, management, project teams, etc.) on the direction of global processes.
  • Understand the current high-level technology environment of cloud-based Human Resources and Payroll systems, and third-party provider opportunities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • University degree or equivalent in HR, Finance (MBA, Diploma, BA, etc.)
  • MBA or advanced degree or certificate (e.g. CPP) preferred
  • 8-10 years of work experience within the field of global payroll
  • 5+ years of leadership experience
  • Understanding & knowledge of regional and global market landscape and the respective customers
  • Experienced stakeholder management of senior business leaders
  • Experience in project management
  • Transformation/implementation experience desired
