Associate Finance Manager, COMMERCIAL ACCOUNTING & CONTROLS

OVERVIEW:

The Global Accounting Organization (GAO) is on a journey to maximize the value we bring to the organization by proactively partnering with technical expertise while driving standard, efficient, global processes.

As an Associate Finance Manager in North America Commercial Accounting you will partner with the GAO, Financial Shared Services, sales and marketing functions, and the segment finance organizations to maintain a well-controlled environment producing accurate financial results in compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP). Additionally, this role provides accounting and technical guidance in support of the order-to-cash process, including revenue, trade and marketing spending while evaluating dynamic business transactions against changing accounting and regulatory requirements. This role also provides the opportunity to support a variety of significant enterprise initiatives, including M&A transactions and projects related to our Accelerate Strategy.

This role is uniquely positioned to gain both technical accounting skills and a perspective on the processes and decisions supporting General Mills’ commercial side of the business. Enablers for success in this role include the ability to work proactively, a high attention to detail, ability to partner with multiple functions, effective communication skills and a commitment to process and process improvement.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership

  • Provide proactive accounting expertise and business partnership across the order-to-cash process: revenue recognition, trade, and marketing related activities within the North America Retail & Foodservice Segments.
  • Build functional excellence in accounting capability across the sales and commercial functions and ensure balance between GAO strategy and business needs.
  • Collaborate with other NAR and NAF functions to improve the processes that interact with accounting; increase results through strong relationships.
  • Collaborate across functions and communicate with leadership to drive the accuracy of financial results, functional excellence, and development of accounting and controls capabilities throughout the organization.

Accounting & Controls Acumen

  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and assess impact of changing regulations on the financial statements.
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close, and ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
  • Maintain and oversee all accounting procedures, controls, and processes. Develop sustainable solutions for all identified control gaps and ensure they are implemented in a manner consistent with global standard process.
  • Assist with process and governance excellence in our dynamic global accounting and controls environment.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements in compliance with policies and requirements.
  • Other duties, as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting and controls
  • Ability to build trusting relationships
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence across the organization (Partner for Impact)
  • Strong process/project leadership (Process Excellence)
  • Strong communication skills
  • ERP knowledge
  • High level of efficiency and accuracy

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) License
  • SAP experience
  • Commercial accounting or finance experience

  • We are open to 100% remote candidates with travel based on business needs. 
  • International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $90100.00 - $135300.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
