Position Overview:

Join our team as a Senior UAV Pilot specializing in Aerial Survey and Mapping, playing a pivotal role in managing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) operations for Bechtel’s global projects. This position involves extensive travel, both domestic and international, adherence to standard operating procedures, and collaboration with project management personnel and client representatives. As the Secondary UAV Flight Operations Liaison, you will ensure compliance with company procedures, oversee UAV pilots and contractors, and contribute to the success of cutting-edge projects.

Responsibilities:

  1. Flight Operations and Management:
  • Execute UAV flight missions for aerial surveying and mapping projects following established operating procedures.
  • Manage and assist in the coordination of UAV pilots and contractors, ensuring adherence to safety policies.
  • Act as the liaison between Bechtel project management personnel and client representatives for UAV flight operations.
  1. Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
  • Obtain necessary permits and approvals, including coordinating and requesting FAA restricted airspace as required.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and FAA procedures and safety requirements.
  • Uphold company policies and procedures, fostering a culture of safety and adherence to industry standards.
  1. Data Acquisition and Processing:
  • Operate UAVs equipped with specialized sensors and cameras to collect accurate geospatial data.
  • Assist in the management of UAV data processing, utilizing software such as Pix4D, Drone Deploy, Bently Context Capture, and Trimble Stratus/Propeller.
  • Apply knowledge of global coordinate systems, datums, and surveying fundamentals to ensure data accuracy.
  1. Supervision and Team Collaboration:
  • Supervise Unmanned Flight Operations Pilots and Contractors, providing guidance and support.
  • Collaborate with customer and supplier, technical, and production staff to meet project objectives.
  • Present findings and project updates in front of Bechtel Personnel and clients.

Qualifications and Skills:

Basic Qualifications:

  • UAV flying and technical experience required.
  • Minimum 1 year of Photogrammetry/Aerial Survey experience.
  • FAA Part 107 Certification required.
  • Experience with Pix4D, Drone Deploy, Bently Context Capture, Trimble Stratus, Propeller, or comparable UAV Data Processing experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of global coordinate systems and datums.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of surveying fundamentals.
  • Survey CAD software experience a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and knowledge in OSHA and FAA procedures and safety requirements.
  • Professional land survey experience preferred.
  • B.S. in a related Professional Aviation, Engineering discipline, or Management.
  • Minimum 1 year of industrial UAV experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentations in front of Bechtel Personnel and clients.
