Designer II – Graphic Designer

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Designer, as a member of the Marketing Communications team, plays a key role in establishing the visual identity of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. This person produces creative solutions, assets and tactics that align with CHLA’s brand standards and further the institution’s strategic goals. The designer also creates templates and assists in templating content to ensure brand cohesion across internal and external marketing and communications channels and tactics. This person will collaborate closely with other members of the design, video, content, communications and marketing teams.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of paid experience as a designer in a professional setting.
  • Experience in an academic medical center, university or other health care setting is a plus.
  • Experience and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, Acrobat Pro).
  • Familiarity with best practices in typography, iconography and layout skills
  • Knowledge of and experience applying design techniques, tools, and principles and how to apply them to print, digital, social media, product and other mediums.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on several concurrent projects, prioritize multiple tasks across multiple teams, and work quickly with fast turnaround times.
  • Must be a team player, proactive problem-solver and a quick learner.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency using Mac hardware, operating systems and programs.
  • Ability to accept constructive feedback.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Suite products (Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive) and file-sharing programs such as Box.
  • Compelling portfolio of completed design projects that accurately reflect your skills, required.

Education/Licensure/Certification: Bachelor’s degree or extensive coursework in Design, Visual Arts or relevant field.

Pay Scale Information

$61,360.00-$110,573.00

CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
