Flexential Datacenter and Lab ( less than 5 miles between locations)

  • The engineer will support debug of computing platforms at boards and systems level.
  • Engineer will work on air and liquid cooled systems.
  • Engineer is expected to understand the full server platform from top to bottom including HW, FW, driver, and layers of SW. Your responsibility is to effectively validate the platform, root cause issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • You will be familiar with applying server platform level tools and techniques to ensure performance to spec and will be responsible for the development of methodologies, execution of validation plans, and debug of failures. Using hardware and software diagnostic tools the engineer evaluates the electrical and mechanical characteristics of integrated circuits, components, subcomponents, and systems to determine the root cause of failure.
  • Experience with probing circuits and oscilloscopes.
  • Able to handle system board Level debug, troubleshooting, board rework, setup and install boards, setup, and boot OS (Windows, Linux), trouble shoot basic OS boot issues with BIOS, driver, or external IO devices.

Qualifications:

You must possess a Bachelor of Science degree (REQUIRED NO EXCEPTIONS) in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science Engineering with up to 2 years’ experience or a Master's degree with up to 1 year experience.

Additional qualifications include:

  • Expertise in System Architecture, Validation debug Techniques including Memory & I/O controllers .
  • Demonstrate software competency in PERL, Python, and other scripting Languages.

Technical Skills:

  • FW/SW development or validation experience; understanding of software stack from BIOS/FW through OS driver.
  • Strong at analytical problem solving, debugging.
  • Should have a good understanding of system power/reset/boot flows, and firmware (BIOS, BMC and CPLD, etc.) interactions during the process.
  • Previous experience in server performance (CPU, Memory, IO, etc.) characterization, debug and tuning is a bonus.
  • Candidates must be comfortable in a lab and datacenter environment, able to continuously learn new things as technology advances.
  • Previous role in debugging issues and setting priorities is preferable understand debug flow and be able to manage multiple issues at once. Demonstrated effectiveness in multitasking over simultaneous problem areas and/or assignments.
  • Hands on experience with software verification and validation using test frameworks / automation tools / scripting languages such as Python or Perl.
