Peraton is seeking a Senior Tier 3 Watch/Network Administrator in support of a communication system for the Defense Intelligence Enterprise. This exciting program provides Engineering and Operations for the continual design, transition, operations, and service improvement activities associated with the LAN, WAN, and Unified Communication services (Voice, Video, & Data) on multiple classified and unclassified networks.

Tier 3 responsibilities include: 

  • Using information provided by Tiers 1 and 2 and log additional information as needed
  • Providing specialist knowledge of the incident or problem that could not be provided at Tiers 1 and Tier 2 
  • Performing incident analysis and identification of potential problems
  • Solving Service Requests
  • Entering Solutions into the Solutions database
  • Responding to incidents and Service Requests sent by Tier 1 and Tier 2, and documenting additional information and solutions as needed
  • Supporting the 24x7 operations of the NOC
  • Performing root cause analyses
  • Proactively identifying risks in the network and developing strategies to mitigate those risks.
  • Providing technical expertise to network architects and site technicians.
  • Monitoring, administering, and troubleshooting network, encryption/crypto, voice and video conference and other associated network devices.
  • Communicating changes in health and performance of all designated systems to the IT Operations Center (ITOC), Connectivity Operations leadership team and any other Government-designated recipients.
  • Generating reports and briefings detailing network and Unified Communication operations, including incidents, performance, health, and other analytics.
  • Accessing network components to research errors, incidents, problems and to perform incident analysis and identify potential problems
  • Performing System patching and IAVA patches to network routers and switches.
  • Performing IOS and Software upgrades.
  • Creating, reviewing, and publishing in KM system Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for network operations.
  • Support Network ticket closure across Network OPS staff to include; complete initial categorization of Service Requests (type, sub-type, location device, priority, etc.) 
  • Use administrative access to the network to provision new switches, router, VLANs and Krypto.
  • Monitoring network performance, track usage and develop capacity planning reports.
  • Developing and maintaining IP Address allocations tables.
  • Making recommendations that enhance operational efficiencies for network monitoring, management, and overall operations.
  • Lead new/enhanced network implementation, installation, and technical refresh projects within a site or locale.
  • Working independently while providing leadership to the rest of the Network team.
  • Tests and evaluates network designs to determine whether customer requirements are met efficiently and effectively. 
  • Support development of testing aids for validating lab configurations or systems in the lab 
  • Assists with testing and documentation for products/solutions/systems being tested. 
  • Lead research and testing of new or modified hardware or software products to determine performance and interoperability. 
  • Supports engineers or other staff in the design or implementation of new solutions. 
  • Lead validation of lab environment disaster recovery plans. 

Tier 3 support of the Network Operation Center provides enhanced customer support and attempts to resolve incidents that sent from Tier 1 support. At Tier 2, incident management usually functions alongside problem management as an analysis of incidents may indicate a larger problem.

Tier 3 support addresses complex customer incidents and IT problems sent from Tiers 1 and 2. Tier 3 support serves as subject matter experts or have a deep knowledge in a specific area.

Required:

  • Active TS/SCI with the ability to pass Polygraph examination
  • High School/GED + 11 Yrs, or Associates + 9 Yrs, or Bachelors + 7 Yrs, or Masters + 5 Yrs, or PhD + 3 Yrs
  • Information Assurance Technical (IAT) II Certification
  • Excellent customer interface, writing and oral communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of LAN/WAN and Unified Communication (UC) technology, tools and services.
  • Demonstrated experience providing Tier 3 support and expertise in a Network Operations center environment
  • Must have firm grasp and knowledge of fiber and copper-based Ethernet technologies, capabilities and cabling and their connectivity to local and wide area networks
