Cloud Engineering Infrastructure Development

Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) teams are developing Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies that can operate at a large scale in a multi-tenant cloud environment. We aim to provide customers with the best computing, storage, networking, database, security, and other cloud-based services.

As part of the OCI - File Storage Service team, we are seeking talented engineers who want to solve complex problems in the area of highly available distributed file storage services. The service is growing rapidly and delivering enterprise-class features to meet our customers' most demanding file system workloads. Engineers in this role will have a significant impact on the technical and business aspects of the project. 

As a Senior/Lead Engineer, you will lead and influence the software architecture and designs in a highly collaborative team, building new features for File Storage Service and operating and growing the current service offering. You should have a deep understanding of distributed systems and be able to architect broad systems interactions while being very hands-on and able to dive deep into any part of the stack and lower-level system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years experience delivering and operating large-scale, highly available distributed systems.
  • Strong knowledge of C/C++ and experience with languages such as Python, Go is a plus.
  • Strong demonstrable experience in file systems, storage, and distributed systems
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and operating systems
  • Working familiarity with file system protocols (NFS v3/v4, SMB), networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP), and standard network architectures.
  • Knowledge and experience using Linux/Unix operating systems is a plus
  • Experience building multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure is a strong plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills using gdb, valgrind, strace, ltrace & static code analyzers
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders towards achieving success of the task at hand.
  • Must have self-motivation to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in C (System Programming), Distributed Systems
  • Experience in storage systems and distributed file systems.
  • Experience in Infrastructure-as-a-Service, viz. OpenStack, AWS, GCP, Azure or similar Cloud Scale applications.

Education: 

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or related engineering fields.

Design, develop, troubleshoot, and support software programs for Storage, File systems, applications, tools, networks, etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will be able to help define and develop software for tasks associated with designing, developing, and debugging File Storage Service. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Duties and tasks are varied and complex, needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. You will have the opportunity to work with multiple senior File System and Storage domain experts and be a part of a dynamic team. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area.

US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
