About This Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior UX/UI Designer to join our team. As a Senior UX/UI Designer, you will champion the user throughout the entire design and development process. The ideal candidate possesses mastery over all user-centered design skills and techniques, including task analysis, use cases, user journeys, usability testing, wireframing, and design systems. The Senior UX/UI Designer works closely with product management, engineering, and frontend UI development teams to develop a cohesive experience throughout our platform in order to increase user satisfaction and usability. This role should also have some general familiarity with the roles of other teams within the business, and works proactively to understand their processes and needs.

You are a self-starter who takes charge of guiding the design process from gathering user interface requirements, shadowing and interviewing the user, building wireframes, utilizing design systems, creating prototypes and writing detailed user interface specifications. You put the user first in your Enterprise designs, however, you also understand MVP restraints and incorporate developer feedback (both frontend and backend) in order to build solid, business-level products from concept to completion.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Serve as a pivotal bridge between product managers and UI developers, ensuring a seamless design and user experience integration across Apex's suite of products.
  • Leverage expertise in design thinking, information architecture, and user-centered design to deliver compelling and intuitive user experiences.
  • Apply design thinking and effective questioning techniques to formulate strategies and execution plans, especially in scenarios where clear pathways may not be immediately apparent.
  • Utilize user interviews, user shadowing, and task analysis to comprehend user goals, challenges, and create detailed user personas.
  • Develop comprehensive user flow diagrams, user journeys, and user stories based on requirements and insights gathered from user interviews.
  • Generate wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and prototypes that vividly articulate the functionality and features of interface concepts.
  • Effectively communicate Product Management requirements to UI developers through detailed specifications, using tools such as Confluence, Jira, and Figma.
  • Embrace and actively seek feedback from the design team and end-users to ensure the creation of a consistent and universal user experience across all Apex products.
  • Participate in regular design reviews within the UX/UI team to assess ongoing design work, determining priorities and evaluating the effectiveness of proposed solutions.
  • Provide expert guidance and mentorship to junior members of the UX/UI team as part of the role of a Senior UX/UI Designer.
  • Demonstrate a deep passion for and stay abreast of the latest trends in user-centered design processes, systemic thinking, and interaction design principles.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Information Design, Digital Design, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • 7+ years prior UX/UI design experience
  • Experience designing complex solutions for enterprise and business-or financial-focused applications

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience with enterprise and web application design
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in using Confluence and JIRA.
  • Relentless attention to detail
  • Strong proficiency in Figma and adept utilization of a Design System
  • Strong project management skills
  • Up-to-date knowledge of user-centered design principles and best practices
  • Working knowledge of, or familiarity with, HTML and CSS
