???? The Role

Senior Data Engineer at Oodle Car Finance.

We are seeking a Senior data engineer to help us build, test and maintain our data platform which serves the critical needs of the business. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our data stack including data pipelines and data warehouse for our analytics, data science, operations and marketing teams. We are in the process of completing our migration to a new Data Warehouse based on Snowflake using the Data Vault architecture. We have exciting plans for using our data to give our customers greater value and our business even more insights.

????The Team

The Data Engineering team is responsible for all aspects of data management, developing and refining cloud native warehouse, interfaces from a variety of internal and external sources, building tools and processes for data quality assurance and presenting data to whoever needs, whenever they want and in whatever format it is required.

The data engineering team is a central team that works closely with your peer data teams in analytics and reporting, data science and the wider business to understand and service their data needs, ensuring a single source of truth is maintained. The team operates with a collaborative, autonomous and flat structure.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work with data science, credit risk and analytics teams to understand their data needs and recommend reliable and efficient solutions to service these needs
  • Develop, test, and maintain data pipelines into and out of cloud data warehouse
  • Collaborate with other teams where data is sourced to understand and correctly model what comes in
  • Efficiently manage processing of large semi-structured data sources and curate data to service data science modelling use cases
  • Evaluate and implement tools to streamline process of developing, collaborating, and executing data science models in a safe, efficient, and reliable way
  • Work with wider data engineering function to ensure engineering frameworks and best practices are developed, maintained, and strictly adhered to
  • Track overall performance and stability of the data platform, automating and improving performance of data models, data pipelines and data quality rules
  • Define and enhance data management and governance tools and capabilities across the data engineering function

What you’ll need:

  • Previous Experience in a Data Engineering role 
  • Strong SQL and Python development skills 
  • Hands-on experience working with cloud-based data warehousing technologies, specifically Snowflake and DBT 
  • Hands on experience with AWS cloud services and Data Ops CI/CD tools and processes e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub, etc 
  • Knowledge of tools like FiveTran and AirFlow 
  • Ability to communicate effectively to both technical as well as non-technical audiences 
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail 
  • High levels of energy, enthusiasm, and passion to acquire new skills and succeed in a dynamic environment 

Desirable Experience:

  • FinTech/Finance experience
  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
