Job Description Summary

The Senior Inspection Technology Leader will provide technical support for the factory across all components, processes, and machines. Additionally, the Senior Technologist will coach/guide/mentor/train CADCAM team members as well as other Manufacturing and Quality Engineers across the factory.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute manufacturing and inspection technology development projects.
  • Has knowledge of best practices and how areas integrate with others; is aware of quality and procedural requirements in regards to production processes.
  • Own the Inspection Technology applications roadmap that support Inspection elements for manufacturing processes
  • Proposes new technological solutions and development paths.
  • Manage process and product improvement projects via collaboration with appropriate technical and operations teams across the plant
  • Partner with Process and Product Industrialization teams, Design Engineering, Product Definition Teams, (and others) to drive long term product quality, producibility, and cost out opportunities
  • Interact with stakeholders in Engineering, Supply Chain and Quality to understand their requirements
  • Leads projects with identified risks and resource requirements. Brings team members to consensus around topics within field.
  • Provide leadership and guidance as well as mentor and develop technical individuals plant-wide
  • Troubleshoot and resolve calibration-related issues in collaboration with maintenance, engineering, and other teams
  • Plan, perform, and document capability studies and gauge repeatability and reproducibility studies
  • Conduct root cause analysis and drive cross-functional, collaborative resolution to quality and technical issues
  • Develop, improve, and standardize programming processes within the CADCAM team and across the plant (including PC-DMIS, GOM, SPEC, and others)
  • As needed, generate and maintain CMM programs with PC-DMIS software
  • As needed, generate and maintain Blue Light programs with GOM software
  • Provide daily operator support for CMM programming & Blue Light
  • Initiate and lead process improvement projects to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while embracing and driving positive change inside and outside the organization when appropriate

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 6 additional years of experience of manufacturing inspection / metrology
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience programming with PC-DMIS (w/minimum 3 years of offline programming)

Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Knowledgeable of various quality system measuring devices including: Traditional CMM, Portable CMM, Structured (Blue) Light, Vision systems, Laser scanning, layout and hand gages, post-scan analysis software
  • Strong knowledge of statistical process control concepts as it relates to understanding process variation
  • GDTP Y14.5-2009 or Y14.5M-1994 ASME certification
  • Understanding of QMS, methods, and other quality systems
  • Prior experience working as a metrologist or in the metrology field
  • Familiarity with on-machine Renishaw probing processes and routines
  • Demonstrated proficiency interpreting drawing requirements and GD&T
  • Ability to drive innovation by implementing new ideas and screening new technologies to align with business objectives
  • Ability to effectively communicate to multiple levels of the organization, both verbally and through written communication
  • Ability to enact and drive change within an organization
  • Ability to multi-task and productively manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Self-motivated and self-driven proven project leadership
  • Ability to accept new challenges, take ownership, and make decisions

The base pay range for this position is 103,100.00 - 137,400.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 15% bonus.
