Job Description

AECOM Hunt is seeking a highly talented Mechanical-Industrial Engineer to join our Hunt Construction group. This position will be supporting an industrial manufacturing client in the greater Detroit, Michigan area and would be contingent upon contract award which is expected in 2024.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and/or develop material flow processes and equipment.
  • Provide engineering support for material flow process; document standards and procedures, provide training, overall adherence and maintenance to ensure materials are available in designated stock, markets and line locations throughout the facility.
  • Lay out market, sequencing, and kitting areas to facilitate material handling, process flow, space utilization, and labor.
  • Apply technical expertise in the development of material flow processes.
  • Recommend changes to increase safety, reduce costs, improve quality and optimize efficiency.
  • Participate in plant layout development activities.
  • Develop floor space analyses to confirm storage requirements and recommend practical solutions where required.
  • Assist in qualifying manual and powered material handling equipment requirements.
  • Work to improve material flow and manage materials and inventory consistent with Lean principles.
  • Define and manage in-plant storage and call systems to maintain inventories; assist to define appropriate goals and metrics for proper material control.
  • Provide vehicle and pedestrian flow/congestion/safety analyses and recommend practical solutions where required.
  • Interact on a regular basis with other functional groups and vendors on technical and/or administrative matters.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirement:

  • BA/BS + 2 years of relevant Mechanical and/or Industrial Engineering experience or AA/AS + 4 years of relevant experience or HS + 6 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualification:

  • Previous experience with Automotive OEMs or Tier Supplier OEMs
  • Factory flow/Optimization.
  • Industrial Engineering experience
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Outlook/Access)
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD

  • Offered rate of compensation (Michigan only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $61K - $112K USD annually.
