Senior Manager, Software Engineering, iOS & Android

As a member of the Mobile Growth Offers team, you’ll work on the flagship Capital One iOS and Android apps, creating experiences used by millions of customers with the goal of sharing relevant offers, products, and services to credit card users to save them money or better improve their spending power. We work on features such as Offer Center, Credit Line Increase, and Balance Transfer, within a completely modernized mobile codebase. We work with several business partners across Capital One to focus on both consumer and small business customer needs to build highly visible and highly valuable features.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead a portfolio of technology projects and a team of developers by partnering with fellow senior managers/architects, leveraging your deep experience in mobile app development to create solutions that help meet our customers and business needs.
  • Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community, and from time to time, code or evaluate code.
  • Collaborate with digital product managers and deliver robust Android/iOS client code solutions that drive powerful experiences for our small business banking customers and adhere to established engineering best practices, design guidelines and principles. 
  • Partner with Software Engineers, UX/UI, Quality Engineers, Product Owners/Analysts to deliver high performing quality customer experiences that are engaging, purposeful and powerful in their simplicity
  • Actively participate in all team Agile ceremonies, contributing to ensure that all team commitments are delivered on time and of the highest quality
  • Be an active advocate of the mobile platform through both internal and external developer communities
  • Remain an active learner in all technologies related to mobile development (Kotlin, Swift, 3rd party libraries, etc.)
  • Influence and contribute to group discussions and incorporate feedback/communication from the broader team
  • Actively engage with developers outside of the local spring team across various disciplines (Android, iOS, APIs, Web, etc.)
  • Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across sprint teams
  • Identify technical obstacles early and work closely with the team to find creative solutions
  • Review pull requests and ensure adherence to Kotlin and other language idioms
  • Grow and provide SME level leadership while managing a team of mobile developers

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience does not apply)
  • At least 4 years of people management experience
  • At least 4 years of experience building Android or iOS applications
  • At least 3 years of experience with Kotlin or Swift

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • 5+ years of experience building Android or iOS applications
  • 4+ years of experience with Kotlin or Swift
  • 2+ years of experience with Agile practices
