About the Role

This role is for a Summer 2024 Internship and will eventually be based out of our San Jose, CA, or New York, NY office. 

The Devices & Consumer PR Intern reports to the Devices & Consumer Communication team and works closely with the broader team to support consumer PR efforts for Roku TVs, Roku Players, The Roku Channel, Roku Originals & Roku Ad efforts. This position will drive the consumer narrative for upcoming launches, technical reviews, and seasonal moments. This includes building out media audits, drafting and pitching media on new initiatives, developing prep materials for product launches, and drafting blog posts. The Consumer PR Intern supports the team to effectively increase awareness for Roku products and the wide variety of product offerings available by Roku.

For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $28 -55 per hour. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location. This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.

What you’ll be doing

  • Support the Consumer PR team with a variety of projects, both internal and external
  • Develop press materials, including press releases, blog posts, newsletters, pitches, briefing documents, recap reports, media analysis.
  • Participate in PR planning and strategy ideation.
  • Stay on top of TV trends and quickly adapt plans to tap into pop culture moments.
  • Communicate knowledgeably about Roku products – including a firm grasp of key partners.

We’re excited if you have

  • Degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled at a college or university 
  • Preferred Majors: Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, English
  • Strong writer who can produce materials without significant editing
  • Strong interest in the news and media industries
  • A love for streaming and all things TV
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and flexible
  • Positive and collaborative personality; a commitment to ensuring all activities undertaken are as successful as possible
  • Ability to multi-task and work well in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational and analytical communication skills 
  • Previous internship experience a plus
  • Technical skills required for multiple aspects of the role
  • Ideal candidates will possess strong Office, PC and Mac skills
