nCino is seeking a full-time Principal Product Designer to join our rapidly growing team of designers who are passionate about crafting solutions that delight our customers, solving tough problems, and setting the bar for experience in financial services.

The ideal person for this role is a systems thinker who can see patterns and relationships between programs, projects, and interfaces. You have broad UX generalist skills plus deep experience in design strategy, information architecture, and lean agile design practices.

In this role, you will guide the user focus, design thinking, and design execution across multiple product portfolios through individual, hands-on contributions as well as collaborative work.

You won’t just be designing great experiences, you will be involved from idea to delivery, focusing on end-to-end user journeys, service design, future vision concepts, design consistency, and product scalability.

Responsibilities

  • Guide the design direction and future vision of experiences for digital products used by consumers and financial institutions.
  • Serve as thought leader, coach, and internal consultant driving design quality, consistency, and innovation across multiple product portfolios.
  • Work across multi-disciplinary teams to adopt user-focused mindsets and practices, envision the future, and plan incremental and iterative delivery.
  • Plan the UX approach, lead design efforts, and drive UX outcomes for nCino’s most strategic initiatives.
  • Lead ideation and strategy sessions with leadership, managers and product stakeholders and then rapidly envision and iterate designs based on the input and feedback.
  • Design and deliver UX artifacts, including journey maps, user flows, prototypes, wireframes, high fidelity mockups, and design specifications.
  • Lead and/or participate in user research to inform design decisions, UX strategies, and measurement.
  • Contribute to the evolution of design team operations, design systems, and user research practices.
  • Mentor other designers and share knowledge with colleagues about design thinking frameworks, data-driven design decisions, and user-centered design practices.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Computer Science or equivalent. 
  • 6+ years of professional UX experience design for responsive web sites and mobile apps;
  • Or combination experience, education & superior performance
  • A strong portfolio showcasing your UX design and strategy work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Professional experience in an Agile design environment
  • Experience with design tools such as Figma or Sketch

Desired:

  • MS/MA degree in a related field
  • Knowledge of and excitement for fintech, the financial industry, or personal and business banking
  • Knowledge of the Salesforce platform
  • Experience with research tools such as Maze, UserTesting, or similar
  • Willing to relocate to Wilmington, NC
