LCRA is looking for a Relay Technician to join our System Protection group at our Marble Falls location. As a member of our Relay Technician team, you will use the electrical skills you have as well as on-the-job training to build, maintain and retrofit substation equipment all across central and west Texas. Our Ideal candidate will have proven experience testing and troubleshooting various relay schemes using SEL, GE, Basler and other micro-processor based relays. If you like to travel, like to work in a team setting, and put safety first, this is the job for you.

You will be trusted to:

  • Test relays using the latest Doble RTS software
  • Commission new substation equipment including protective relays, transmission and distribution circuit breakers, power transformers, auto transformers, capacitor and reactor banks, circuit switchers and many others.
  • Troubleshoot failed or malfunctioning electrical equipment.
  • Performs work by traveling independently or with a small crew to various locations (substations, power plants, etc.) as scheduled.

You qualify with:

  • Three or more years of experience in the construction and/or maintenance of power substation protection, diagnostic, monitoring and/or control systems.
  • A degree(s) in electrical power theory, electronics, instrumentation, controls, computer science or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
  • Driver’s license
