Position Summary

Skyworks Mixed Signal Solutions (MSS) is seeking a Principal Customer Quality Engineer (CQE) to work with us in Austin on MSS integrated circuit products. The CQE will be responsible for all aspects of product quality across the product lifecycle. The CQE partners with Marketing, Applications, Design, Packaging, Wafer, Assembly, Test, Failure Analysis, Reliability, Supply Chain and Sales to ensure high quality products are delivered to our customers. This role includes customer RMA/FA support: coordinating the process to receive customer failures; drive verification, root cause analysis and reporting using the 8D process. The role will provide a rewarding career with high impact to the company and continuous technical and leadership growth.

Primary Responsibilities

Resolve customer issues via leading a cross-functional technical team to determine containment, root cause and corrective actions. Interface with MSS customers to fully understand the customer’s complaints and provide regular status. 

Drive team to achieve DPPM goal, customer complaint cycle time targets and deliver high quality 8D reports.

Drive high quality into product design, manufacturing and sustaining using best practices such as Lessons Learned, Risk Assessment, DOE, DFT, DFM, etc...

Represent quality and customer requirements in change management meetings 

Prior to product launch work closely with voice of the customer, product development teams and manufacturing/suppliers to surface potential issues early to insure stable/high quality device during high volume manufacturing.

Travel to customer or manufacturing sites for proactive risk mitigation or crisis resolution

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree with Masters preferred 

At least 12 years in the areas of CMOS Mixed Signal Design, Test, Wafer fab, Assembly, Failure Analysis, Product Engineering, Reliability, Supply Chain or Quality

At least 5 years Customer Management experience

Automotive requirements experience preferred (AEC, IATF, AIAG, DRBFM, etc) 

Have the potential to acquire rapidly product level experience – Broadcast, Timing or Power products

Have the potential to quickly gain manufacturing understanding – Wafer fab and assembly with knowledge of process control, traceability, change management, ATE test, ORT, monitors and DOE

Good understanding of end customer’s product validation and testing (sub-system and system level)

Show strong potential global leadership skills with proven ability to influence development teams to improve quality when faced with schedule/cost/performance tradeoffs

For customer complaints, must show potential to lead large global teams to quickly identify containment, root cause and corrective action for complex issues and clearly communicate the results to our customer. Ability to set technical team priorities

Advanced data analysis and data-driven skills. Working knowledge of JMP, Minitab and Excel (Vlookup, Pivot table), PowerBI to drive deeper analysis for continual improvement opportunities

Problem solving experience leveraging industry best practices (8D, 3X5 Why, Fish Bone, Fault Tree, FMEA) 

Have the potential to quickly understand the business and legal sense

Ability to remain calm and logical under high pressure situations

Must be capable of effectively interfacing at all levels of the organization including executive level both internally and with the customer

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

Must exhibit self-motivation, demonstrate high sense of urgency and be capable of successfully multi-tasking in a high pressure/fast-paced/matrix environment

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $124,400 - $235,700 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others.
