Purpose and Scope: Support product design process from R&D phases to stock approval for Polo Active Knits category

Key Responsibilities, included but not limited to:

  • Work with the design team on the development of knit product
  • Attend all design meetings and take detailed notes in meetings to be distributed to team after to insure all details are follow up on accordingly.
  • Prepare for the design presentations, assembling fabrics, garments, pictures, signs, stripe layouts on presentation trays for senior management.
  • Product Design Creation and follow up
    • Prepare detailed flat sketches w/ garment construction in Adobe Illustrator for Technical designer to work from
    • Generate detailed  hand drawn sketches, Adobe Illustrator flats; CAD multiple colorways
    • Prepare and manage art for Print and embroidery development with internal depts. and for factory development
    • Make changes to the detailed flat sketch as needed and follow up on any additional design changes with all design team members
    • Initiate color CADs and manage seasonal stats
  • Work in PLM to load, update and maintain information as required
  • Follow up with cross-functional partners regarding fabrics used as trims and linings.
  • Update all information prior to hand off to Product Development and technical design by thoroughly checking flat sketches against bill of materials.
  • Prepare accurate info for hand off to Product Development and technical design.
  • Attend fittings, and take detailed notes of any changes.
  • Work with Graphic Designers for logo layouts and graphic approvals.
  • Keep all books and files maintained and updated.
  • Organize, maintain & record sales samples/Design Keeps, TOP’s & Proto Developments.
  • Partner with Fabric R&D, and Trim Operations to ensure all components for both submits and samples are completed for tech pack handoff.
  • Stay current with competitive market, new materials, innovation.
  • Assist in special projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Fashion Design with 2-3 years of experience preferred with an emphasis on the active market
  • Need to be highly detail oriented, thorough, accurate and dedicated to seeing a project through on time.
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated worker who enjoys a fast paced dynamic work environment
  • Proficient at sketching detailed garment flats in Adobe Illustrator and proficient at CAD to color illustrate designs.
  • Illustrator and Photoshop required
  • Experience with PLM (or similar), Outlook, Excel, and Word required
