Position overview:

The Assistant Quality Manager will be a key member of the Quality team, reporting to the Quality Manager. This role will be responsible for contributing to the success of Ball by supervising the assigned plant quality assurance function as directed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining a safe and secure work environment which includes correcting unsafe acts/conditions, facilitating monthly safety meetings, performing monthly safety inspections, and investigating accidents, as required
  • Supporting development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the food safety system and European Quality Procedure
  • Supervising the plant quality assurance function as directed
  • Maintaining inspection reports and quality complaints to determine defect trends in materials and products, and initiating corrective action if necessary through appropriate line or staff heads
  • Maintaining reports as necessary, evaluating the quality of designated products, in conformance with established quality assurance procedures
  • Scheduling, or assisting in scheduling, inspection personnel to specific assignments to ensure the most effective utilization of manpower
  • Facilitating quality assurance training and development programs
  • Establishing and maintaining effective work relationships within the department, the division, the group, and the company
  • Communicating with the emergency coordinator (EC) or Environmental Focal Point/Environmental Manager (EFP/EM) regarding environmental management activities
  • Understanding, completing, and maintaining environmental documentation for which the individual is trained, or as directed by the EC, EFP, or EM, (i.e., inspection, labeling, record keeping, maintenance if equipment, etc.)
  • Reporting to the EC, EFP, or EM on the status of assigned responsibilities

Experience and skills required:

  • Diploma in related field, preferable in chemical background
  • Minimum 3 years of related work experience in quality assurance
  • Preferable work experience in international organizations and manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of MS Office package
  • Strong communication skills
  • Fluent English language
