Purpose of Role

As Product Development Finance Manager, you will business partner engineering, purchasing and programme teams across major new vehicle programmes. As part of the cross-functional team, you will have responsibility to develop, manage and control programme performance to meet business plan affordability and return on investment targets.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will work alongside the Finance and Cost Engineering teams to identify and drive continuous improvement, whilst also supervising junior members of the team.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Business partner the Programme Leaders and Functional Engineering teams for major platform and new vehicle programmes across the McLaren product development roadmap.
  • Budget and forecast responsibilities for multiple programmes, ensuring all budgets and forecasts are met, and robust financial control is in place across multiple working channels.
  • Lead weekly programme commercial reviews and monthly operating reviews with programme and senior management, providing a holistic and detailed review of known change control and future risks and opportunities.
  • Supervise and act as a mentor to junior team members and ensure opportunities for personnel development and growth.
  • Lead the programme full business case KPI reporting and measurement (monthly and Gateway reporting) for all programmes (platform and major new vehicle programme).
  • Business partner the Programme Management Office team and functional engineering to provide monthly reporting and control over PD payroll and operating costs to ensure all budget and forecast targets are achieved.
  • Responsible for SAP purchase requisition approval aligned with corporate governance and delegated authorities.
  • Maintain a strong relationship with the wider Finance function to ensure the sharing of knowledge and best practices.
  • Lead and co-ordinate the annual external & internal audits.
  • Act as the conduit between the Programme and Manufacturing teams for the development of the Programme Bill of Material.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Fully qualified accountant with proven post qualified experience.
  • Demonstrable experience within a cross functional business; operations engineering and product development, fast-paced and ever evolving environment.
  • Experience of business partnering with sales & marketing and/or operations and product development.
  • Provides examples of change management and process implementation.
  • Demonstrates a continuous improvement approach to work, challenging ways of working and generating new ideas to drive the function and business forwards.
  • SAP and managing SAP standardisation and new processes would be an advantage.
  • Ability to supervise a team in a fast-paced environment.
