Quality Control Senior Manager

Overview

  • To lead the development and execution of Quality and Food Safety (Q&FS) Plans and Strategies for Egypt Operations and food safety for Distribution Centers' and to secure commitment and resource to drive that agenda.
  • To manage the local Supplier Quality and Food Safety Program (Vendor Assurance), identifying and reducing risk in the supply base and implementing assurance and third party audits.
  • To promote and transfer best practice across Operations and Supply Base and act as main contact for Central Support Functions.
  • To manage Chipsy Quality & Food Safety team and provide expert training to local Management in Quality and Food Safety Systems, Local Vendor Assurance Systems audit compliance. 
  • To assist R&D, Marketing, Local Purchasing in meeting Quality & Food Safety standards in compliance with regulation standards.
  • Continue to lead and manage day to day Chipsy Products Quality Control and Hygiene program across Chipsy plants. 
  • Continue to lead and manage the Microbiological Laboratory.

Responsibilities

Q&F.S Product Control

  1. Secure commitment and resources to drive Quality and Food Safety Agenda, within Operations through implementing SOS (Standard Operating Systems) yearly and to pass IPS (Improved Product Specification) and to pass AIB (American Institute of Bakery) audit twice / year in Food Safety.
  2. Facilitate the transfer of best practices between operating sites and regional / Global experts.
  3. Conduct Quality Systems and Lab Systems Site Expert Trainer (SET) Certification Training for key Q&FS associates in combination with the Middle East & Africa (MENA) Region.

Q&F.S Vendors Control

  1. Lead assessment Key Local Suppliers (packaging material, raw material, flavor and potato)by Enhancing development of all suppliers to the required standards according to quality and food safety questionnaire assessment questionnaire in-order to define their approval levels until reach "approved supplier" that fully complies with Q&FS Standards i.e. to ensure minimum risk upon deliverables.
  2. Identify and manage the priorities within the packaging material, raw material, flavor and potato supply base.
  3. Determine meeting and reporting requirements and align with purchasing contracts.

Strategic Role

  1. With local teams develop functional plan based upon quality and Food Safety strategies and priorities
  2. On-going development for process systems (potato intake, slice management, oil management, etc….) to reapply the Frito Lay mythology in Chipsy to reduce product attribute variability.
  3. Maintain product quality performance in market to gain competitive edge against compotators by reaching highest score in Frito-lay Challenge on quarterly basis by leading executing of weak link market test on monthly basis.
  4. Enhance relationship with Egyptian regulatory parties to avoid unexpected business crises like Food Standards regulations Changes.
  5. Coordinate with R&D department to develop some of the Egyptian Standards in Quality attributes to support Fritolay (FLI) new innovations.
  6. Lead coordination with R&D in on-line trials for new products, packaging design, promotions to ensure line capability compliance and consumer satisfaction.
  7. Approve Film print out text, ingredients, specifications and dimensions according to SOS standards for Marketing Department.
  8. Lead Q & FS team to deliver yearly agenda and develop organization capability.
  9. Responsible for developing expert training and develop in – house experts in Chipsy in Quality Systems, Vendor Assurance and Food Safety.
  10. Maintain responsibility for updated Food Management ISO systems, HACCAP.
  11. Investigate consumer complaints and take corrective actions to keep high standards for Q and Food Safety.
  12. Reports: deliver weak link index report monthly to Supply Chain Director, revise Potato KPI Report, weak link report(quality attributes) through play book, monthly report to Supply Chain Director
  13. AOP: assist Ops. director in AOP by giving input on Quality and F.S AOP plan and follow upon it
  14. Encourage savings/department
  15. Review MOH monthly with planning function and take corrective action
  16. Ensure that the code of conduct and PepsiCo values are adhered to and that the disciplinary code is enforced

Qualifications

  • Engineering/Chemistry
  • Degree level qualification with 10 years business experience.
  • High degree of functional competency, technical understanding and development of business process.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and excellent influencing and communication skills
