  • Responsible for providing human resources support including but not limited to company policies, recruiting, onboarding, providing employment law expertise, and solving employee relations problems such as investigations, mediations, progressive discipline, employment terminations, etc. 
  • Track performance ratings and compile HR-related statistics for assigned group(s).
  • Update employee records with changes and/or corrections in employment status, including salary, position information, scheduled hours, and personal information.
  • Assist hiring managers in choosing appropriate company jobs to best suit business needs; draft or edit new job descriptions as need arises.
  • Collaborate with Recruiting team throughout the recruitment process; serve as intermediary between Recruiting and hiring manager.
  • Communicate effectively with other Human Resources teams and departments as necessary.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field required; equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • 3-5 years of related professional experience required.

JOB SUMMARY

The Human Resources Generalist supports a positive employee experience, providing guidance to both staff and project management. The HR Generalist is an HR subject matter expert, having sound knowledge in company and local programs, processes and policies. They are committed to collaboration with the HR team and the programs and staff they support. The HR Specialist is approachable, adaptable to changing priorities and business needs and is solution oriented.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for providing human resources support including but not limited to company policies, recruiting, onboarding, providing employment law expertise, and solving employee relations problems such as investigations, mediations, progressive discipline, employment terminations, etc.
  • Track performance ratings and compile HR-related statistics for assigned group(s).
  • Update employee records with changes and/or corrections in employment status, including salary, position information, scheduled hours, and personal information.
  • Assist hiring managers in choosing appropriate company jobs to best suit business needs; draft or edit new job descriptions as need arises.
  • Collaborate with Recruiting team throughout the recruitment process; serve as intermediary between Recruiting and hiring manager.
  • Communicate effectively with other Human Resources teams and departments as necessary.
  • Responds to inquiries on Leaves of Absence and maintain records / information repository of active and past leaves
  • Works alongside the onboarding Coordinator to facilitate a positive and informative onboarding experience for new hires, conducts new hire orientations and HR-related training
  • Conducts Exit interviews and ensures termination actions are conducted
  • Provides guidance to staff and Managers related to Workday processes
  • Supports ad-hoc and annual HR initiatives and programs
  • May provide recruiting support as needed
  • Meets all standards established for this position as outlined in the corresponding annual performance criteria and bonus template for this position,
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by Management

EDUCATION

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (minimum HS diploma)
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Human Resource Management

EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of work experience in the HR field including recruiting, employee relations, performance management, onboarding / offboarding, record keeping and compliance
  • Preferred: Workday experience; experience generating regular and ad-hoc reports tailored to HR metrics; training development and delivery experience; experience supporting clinical operations, call center operations and/or a remote workforce

SKILLS

  • Self-starter with sense of urgency and the ability to work in fast-paced, complex, and deadline-driven environment;
  • Strong organizational skills including time management, calendar management, scheduling, project management, records and filing and using digital resources;
  • Ability to complete assignments with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy;
  • Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy and flexibility to work effectively with all members of the organization
  • Ability to work as a team member, as well as independently;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate information clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion with highly sensitive and confidential information;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (intermediate level in Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, and Microsoft Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of Human Resources and New York State/City Employment laws and regulations

Preferred: Mediation, conflict-management skills; training development and delivery skills

CERTIFICATIONS: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday position

Travel: Limited travel in NY state (less than 5%) on an as-needed basis

Work Location: Hybrid position; combination of in-office (lower Manhattan) and remote WFH

Equipment: Staff member will be issued a company-provided laptop. Staff member must supply their own high speed, reliable internet access. Staff member must supply their own cell phone

Pay Transparency

Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment.
