This Interpreter Scheduling Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Scheduling interpreters to cover outpatients and inpatients linguistic requests according to interpreter schedule and departmental policies and procedures. Communicating with clinical and secretarial staff to obtain needed linguistic information, coordinating and confirming schedules and identifying special requirements for linguistic needs
  • Recording data of all linguistic requests and confirmation of interpreter coverage
  • Reviewing and verifying accuracy of basic patient information regarding linguistic requests
  • Printing, assigning and distributing schedules to designated interpreter(s) as needed
  • Identifying languages for accuracy and provision of services
  • Working with medical and secretarial staff to monitor and evaluate interpreter performance, and develop strategies to promote efficient utilization of linguistic services
  • Responding to requests from patients/parents, visitors and hospital staff, regarding inquiries on how to best address linguistic requests
  • Identifying any problems and taking appropriate correction action
  • Providing positive and effective customer service that supports departmental and hospital operations

To qualify, you must have:

  • Bilingual, preferably Arabic or Spanish
  • Two years related experience; as well as two or more years of medical interpreter experience is strongly preferred
  • The analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or problems are relatively routine
  • The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations
  • Keen organizational skills appropriate to the management tasks of the program
  • The ability to troubleshoot constant stressful situations in a professional manner
