The Department of Anesthesiology, Division of Medical Billing has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Senior Professional Coder to work on the UHealth Campus. The Senior Professional Coder utilizes coding expertise to define operating policies and procedures, mentor team members, and provide input into the infrastructure needs of the organization. Additionally, the Senior Professional Coder completes medical record reviews and participates in initiatives to ensure accurate coding methods.

  • Verify compliance documentation on the anesthesia summary/UChart
  • Verify the Operative Report in Cerner/OpTime
  • Append the diagnosis and anesthesia codes to Anes. Summary and batch for charge capture
  • Verify Insurance in UChart/Cerner
  • Generate OR and Open Encounter Reports
  • Identify compliance or coding issues to management
  • Process Charge Review and Claim Edits
  • Adhere to departmental coding goals established by site
  • Complete daily log for coding for management review
  • Load all anesthesia summaries to folders in SharePoint

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required
  • Certified Coding Professional, RHIT or RHIA Certification
  • General knowledge of office procedures and operations.
  • Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, reports and correspondence
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
