POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for a hard-working and reliable person to join our team as a CNC (Computerized Numerical Control) Operator. CNC is an automated machine that controls a range of complex machinery, such as grinders, lathes, and turning mills, all of which are used to cut, shape, and create different parts and prototypes. On the day to day, CNC machinists combine elements of mechanical design, technical drawings, mathematics, and computer programming skills to produce a variety of metal and plastic parts. The CNC Operator sets up and operates metal, plastic and wood cutting machinery to build tools and parts of various machinery. Their duties include: studying blueprints and creating the design, cutting metal and manipulating it to build the project, and performing regular maintenance on their machinery. They must use several machines and tools to plan the design. They are also responsible for verifying very precise measurements prior to production. Additionally, the CNC Operator prepares etching solutions to repair damaged materials and maintains their machinery at all times to ensure optimal workflow.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This job is a full-time position, with the hours of 7:30am-5pm Monday through Friday. Work will be conducted indoors. CNC Operators are often exposed to loud noises and possibly other contaminants and hazardous work equipment around the shop, making PPE required. Employees must be able to stand for long periods of time and make repetitive movements, such as bending and twisting. Employees must be compliant with health and safety standards and promote a positive work environment. A full-benefits package will be provided following the probationary period. Starting wage for this position will be $18-23 per hour depending on experience.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate CNC's and woodworking equipment
  • Manage CNC tooling
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance
  • Setting up, operating, and disassembling manual, automatic, and CNC machine tools
  • Measure and verify all calculations prior to using machinery
  • Enter all relevant codes to specify and monitor the feed, speed and cut of any tool path for a CNC
  • Interpret 3D drawings and orthographic projections
  • Reading blueprints, sketches, or computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) files
  • Aligning, securing, and adjusting cutting tools and workpieces
  • Turning, milling, drilling, shaping, and grinding machine parts to specifications
  • Smoothing the surfaces of parts or products
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Ensure safe operating practices are being followed
  • Complete tasks within a set time frame
  • Troubleshoot where necessary and report problems that arise
  • Assist employees as needed.

Risk Management:Identifies, analyzes, plans and responds to internal and external risks factors including; security breaches and Health & Safety, adheres to and ensures the organization is compliant with all Health & Safety laws, regulations, standards and required practices. 

Decision Making: Makes concrete, well-informed and thought out decisions that support the overall organization. Has the ability to make quick effective decisions even when data and details are limited. When making unfavourable decisions that might have negative consequences will examine the impacts and potential implications to ensure that decision is valid for the situation.

Planning and Organizing: Accurately estimates duration and level of difficulty of tasks and projects, setting out goals and objectives and work plans to complete.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING:

  • Experience in the Cabinetry industry is an asset
  • Knowledge of CNC programming and control operations
  • Experience using and operating similar machinery
  • Understanding of/ ability to use mathematics
