Asset/Investment Management Full Time Associate

The Data Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing, coordinating and directing the daily operations of the Data Operations team. This includes managing a team of 2-5 individuals spread across multiple office locations. The team is made up of individuals who are subject matter experts in market data, its application, and the various business rules that govern it to ensure our business runs smoothly. The Supervisor is responsible for reviewing and approving daily controls that support various internal and external requirements.

The role requires great communication, solid analytics, high curiosity, and strong attention to detail. This role works closely with the Investment Operations department staff, Portfolio Managers, Information Technology, and other teams. The position also has an element of project work/management, and the ideal candidate should be comfortable monitoring project statuses and escalating blocks as they arise. This could include the review of Tableau Dashboards, ETL solutions, and scheduled SQL queries.

This position requires a hands-on supervisor with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, provide excellent customer service, and motivate staff. The person in this role must feel comfortable with always completing or demonstrating best practices in work as well as be able to work with a level of ambiguity and little guidance at times. 

Primary Responsibilities

• Responsible for the oversight of accurate and timely processing of Data Mastering exceptions, including Security, Pricing, and Benchmarks across multiple office locations.
• Performs wide array of developmental functions including interviewing, performance appraisals, development planning, and corrective action/termination. Coaching, training, and mentoring staff.
• Maintain excellent knowledge of industry practices and controls.
• Ensures that the department is adequately staffed on a day-to-day basis, and that all employees are trained, and cross-trained, as needed.
• Reviews and recommends new methods and procedures to make daily operations in the department more efficient/effective.
• Reviews technical releases related to continuous improvement projects/developments.
• Point of escalation for internal and external clients.
• Manages and identifies challenge areas and executes plans for improvement.
• Understanding of key department processes around corporate actions, pricing, and security maintenance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s (4yr) degree w/ concentration in finance or accounting
• 3-5 years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably with market reference data experience
• Competent in Microsoft Office programs, familiarity with APX, Markit Corporate Actions, or Bloomberg a plus
• Well organized self-starter with the ability to analyze information and support the staff
• Must be able to display strong leadership skills including coaching and mentoring
• Must have strong professionalism and communication skills
• Displays excellent organization, time management, and planning skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to deliver clear, effective communication and takes responsibility for understanding others
• Displays high attention to detail, accuracy, thoroughness, and thoughtfulness. Commitment to meeting identified quality and efficiency standards
• General knowledge of scripting and basic programming concepts, such as VBS/VBA, C#, Java, Batch, and Python preferred
• Intermediate/advanced knowledge of SQL (Microsoft SQL Server)
• Basic/intermediate knowledge of Tableau a plus
• General understanding of transformation and ETL software such as Pentaho Spoon a plus
