The Test Cell Engineer provides Engineering support and direction for the testing of high-bypass turbofan engines, including the new Geared Turbofan (GTF). The test cell engineer is responsible for managing the acceptance testing of overhauled and Test-As-Received engines along with managing the maintenance and qualification of the test cell structure. The test cell engineer reviews engine test data and leads troubleshooting tasks as required to identify the source of results that are outside of acceptable limits. The test cell engineer also manages the process plans and work instructions related to preparing an engine for test, test execution, and preparing the engine for shipment.

Your Key Job Requirements as the Test Engineer:

  • Support Operations in solving any engine test problems
  • Create, modify, and maintain work instructions for Pre-Test, Test, and Post-Test tasks
  • Provide timely responses to Customer and Engineering technical Questions (IPFs)
  • Work with Powerplant Engineers to execute the proper acceptance test procedures per the Workscope
  • Do appropriate research, supporting and advising other functional areas regarding technical issues related to quality, operations processes, materials and customer support
  • Seek opportunities to reduce costs and increase quality and efficiency through the use of new materials, processes or technology
  • Assist with implementation of new materials, processes, tools or technology
  • Assist in training mechanics, inspectors and others related to various technical issues
  • Demonstrate commitment to the EH&S and continuous improvement programs by complying with all policies and procedures, completing all required training, and supporting all applicable committee activities
  • Participate in failure investigations and Problem resolution boards
  • Be a source of in-depth technical knowledge on the testing of high-bypass turbofan engines
  • Become a subject matter expert for testing and prep processes related to high-bypass turbofan engines

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree (highly prefer an Engineering discipline ideally in Mechanical or Aerospace)
  • 2 + years’ work experience in aviation – preferably in a Jet Engine Test Facility or a Jet Engine Overhaul Shop (experience in troubleshooting jet engines would be a real plus)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate with all levels from hourly to senior management
  • Team oriented – experience working in a cross-functional matrix environment
  • Proven ability to problem solve in an engineering capacity
  • Ability to analyze and trend Test Data
  • Willingness to be flexible in the work hours (if required)
