Job Description

In coordination with Risk Management Leadership, this senior leader oversees the planning and execution, and owns the ongoing governance, of the risk management strategy supporting broader U.S. Bank and Corporate Compliance priorities and focus areas. This role works with the leadership team to deliver set objectives. Responsibilities include:

Corporate Compliance Risk Management Strategy

  • Formulate a clear and compelling top-down vision for change that conveys how efforts strengthen Compliance Risk Management through activities such as robust monitoring routines, proactive risk evaluation, early and thorough risk preparation, deep expertise and comprehensive oversight.
  • In conjunction with the SLT, define priorities and areas of focus that advance U.S. Bank, Risk Management & Compliance, and Corporate Compliance strategy and applicability to Compliance Risk Management
  • Oversee execution and implementation of strategic change with clear success criteria and expected outcomes, informing key stakeholders on progress.

Governance Program

  • Implement and manage a governance program founded upon consistent, ongoing measurement and monitoring of compliance risk
  • Regularly deliver timely, meaningful and actionable conclusions regarding the effectiveness of BL processes and controls that meet regulatory, policy and program requirements and effective risk management.

Oversight & Monitoring Framework

  • Develop and maintain an oversight and monitoring framework focused on comprehensive monitoring and identification of relevant emerging topics and risks, adjusting priorities or incorporating new priorities as appropriate with ongoing reprioritization as necessary; informed by analysis of activities such as, but not limited to:
  • Customer complaints analysis and trending,
  • Customer remediation events, root cause analysis and trending
  • Outcomes, results and themes arising from BL Quality Assurance, CQA Testing, CAS engagements and Regulatory Exams
  • Risk Management Initiatives (RMI) with bearing on the compliance management system
  • Other key projects/initiatives such as Regulatory Change Management
  • Issue oversight, including thematic trends and analysis
  • Other notable BL or RMC activities and their CMS impact.

Stakeholder engagement and communication

  • Establish the framework and mechanisms to operationalize objectives with proactive stakeholder engagement and feedback, communicating strategy, progress and timelines, and developing and tracking action plans.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Typically more than 12 years of applicable experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Considerable understanding of applicable laws, regulations, financial services, and regulatory trends that impact their assigned line of business
  • Considerable understanding of the business line’s operations, products/services, systems, and associated risks/controls
  • Thorough knowledge of Risk/Compliance/Audit competencies
  • Strong leadership and management skills of processes, projects and people
  • Effective skills at managing stressful situations
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications
  • Applicable professional certifications

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $139,740.00 - $164,400.00 - $180,840.00
