Compensation

Architect I: $85,147 - $107,227

Architect II: $101,229 - $122,295

Architect III: $113,239 - $133,496

Assistant Architect: $71,726 - $93,587

Architect Intern: $64,608 - $68,034

Responsibilities

This incumbent supports the day to day activities related to space planning and project coordination initiatives in leased and owned office and support space facilities for NYCT. The incumbent will manage turn-key project solutions from space programming, establishment of project budgets, space allocation planning and layouts, interior design, material & product specification, the preparation of construction documents for office renovations; and, the project management and implementation of office renovations through move coordination planning and post occupancy tenant management. This position supports agency reorganizations, consolidations and the application of universal planning standards. The incumbent will be responsible for: the study, evaluation and analysis of office space utilization and support facility needs of New York City Transit and MTA Agencies. Travel to all 5 boroughs for site meetings as needed. 

Architect I, II & III 

A valid New York State Registration as an Architect. Current New York State Registration as an Architect must be maintained for the duration of your employment. 

Special Note 

In addition to above qualifications requirements, to be eligible for placement in Assignment Levels II and III, individuals must have at least one year within the last three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project. 

Assistant Architect 

A Bachelor or Master of Architecture that is the first professional degree in architecture from an accredited college or university; OR 

A Bachelor of Science degree in architecture that is the first four years first professional degree program in architecture AND one year of full-time satisfactory experience in architectural work; OR 

A valid New York State Registration as an Architect.

Architect Intern 

A Bachelor of Architecture or a Master of Architecture that is the first professional degree

in architecture from an accredited college or university.

Desired Skills

In depth knowledge of office facilities planning, programming, general design and construction process, building codes and modular/conventional office furniture systems. Review and analyze of construction proposals, experience with leveling bids and construction administration. Proficient in AutoCAD, Excel, Access, and MS Project. Knowledge and experience with Facility and Space Management Applications such as Archibus ImagineIt. Must have good communication skills when working with client representatives during the design phase of any project. Strong work ethic and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously independently as a project manager. 

Selection Method 

Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview. 

All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
