JOB MISSION: 

New Balance Tech Designers challenge the status quo, solve athletes’ needs, drive fit consistency and quality, and problem solve for a healthier future. 

The Apparel Technical Designer II is responsible for bringing design intention to life from proto through production. Provide transparency and issue escalation to maintain organizational alignment to ensure product drives fit and sizing consistency and garment construction excellence. Manage multiple projects at various stages through design & development, fully coordinate tasks with cross functional team members. 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

  • Responsible for accurately interpreting design’s intent from development through production. 
  • Builds partnerships and works collaboratively across functions to meet shared objectives. 
  • Create and maintain tech packs including garment construction, sketches, graded measurement charts, fit comments, and pattern corrections. 
  • Communicate clear fit revisions to factories through pattern corrections and images. 
  • Drive fit consistency based on category history, block patterns and standards specs. 
  • Identify potential production, quality, costing issues and make appropriate recommendations while maintaining design and fit intent. 
  • Schedule and lead fit sessions. 
  • Research competitors, trends, and new technologies in the industry. 
  • Research and resolve fit and construction issues using appropriate resources. 
  • Track and manage workflow and ensure seasonal deadlines are met. 

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS 

  • Degree in Apparel/Fashion Design or related major, plus a minimum of 5+ years of Technical Design related work experience. 
  • Experience in pattern making, fitting, and grading. 
  • Understanding of development and manufacturing process. 
  • Experience and/or strong desire to learn Gerber Pattern Design and 3D Clo Software. 
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication across various audiences. 
  • Strong organizational skills with acute attention to detail. 
  • Ability to self-manage, work independently, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced and time sensitive environment. 
  • Champions flexibility and adaptability; Shows ability to be persistent and flexible. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite and Adobe Illustrator. 
  • Ability and willingness to travel globally.

Flexible Work Schedule
