What does this role look like?

This advanced-career Contracts Management role will be an individual contributor, but must be able to succeed with minimal supervision and direction. Candidates should possess ability to proactively lead tactical and strategic aspects of the contracting process from Request to Proposals (RFPs), Contract Negotiation and Administration, and Contract Closeout. You will work both Prime Contracts and IWTAs (inter-company work transfer agreements). You will support proposal preparation, negotiation, and contract administration. You will develop and apply solutions to problems requiring the use of a high degree of ingenuity and creativity. You will review customer requests for proposals and offer alternate approaches to mitigate risks involving schedule, cost, specifications, etc. You will maintain communication with cross-functional organizations and customers to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to execute the required actions on time. You will ensure contract documents are consistent with agreements reached at negotiations. Since establishing internal and external customer relationships is imperative, this role may require occasional domestic travel to meet business and regulatory needs.

The selected candidate will provide risk assessments and offer alternative approaches to mitigate risks, including alternative contractual language. Investigate and reconcile contract changes involving cost, specifications, schedules, etc.. Collect and analyze data, identify trends, and report contract status data to contracts team, management and customers. You will monitor contract performance, identify and status issues to contracts team for action, and respond to audit requirements, both internal to LM and external to standards organizations or DCMA and DCAA. You will work closely with contracts and program teams to improve contract management performance. Manage ad hoc data requests and works closely with department manager to spot performance trends.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with 8+ years of professional experience or 6+ years of professional experience with a Master’s degree or relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Contract negotiation experience.
  • Ability to serve as a consultant to management and communicate with personnel outside the organization on major matters, including explanation and interpretation of positions, policies, plans, and objectives.
  • You will need to be a US Citizen and be able to obtain, and maintain a TOP SECRET clearance (SCI eligible), including drug and background checks.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with US Government procurement regulations (FAR/DFARS) in all aspects of the contract life cycle including proposals, administration, and close-out.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to recognize risk elements in business transactions.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Lockheed Martin’s policies and procedures and business systems.
  • Self-starter, requiring little to no direct supervision, and has the ability to comprehend complex financial and business concepts.

  • Proven exceptional strategic communication skills, both written, verbal, and presentation, to effectively communicate business cases to all levels of peers, suppliers, as well as program and executive management, with an ability to persuade and motivate action.
  • Contract drafting experience and experience with various contract types and contracting vehicles.
  • This individual will have demonstrated abilities to develop customer relationships, shape RFPs, and have participated in proposal development and bid strategy.
  • Possess excellent relationship-building skills with peers, leadership, and suppliers.
  • Ability to influence positive business outcomes with fact, reason, and the ability to convey the company’s positions through exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced educational degree(s), such as JD or MBA.
  • NCMA and/or IACCM certification is highly desired but not required.

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $100,400 - $192,500 . Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
