Your Main Activities Are
- Assist the team in its effort to build quantitative analysis on the credit and securitised credit market
- The responsibilities are fulfilled through close collaboration with the rest of the team in London/Tel Aviv as well as with the FIRST, sales and trading teams in both London and Lisbon
- The Credit/ABS-CLO Strategist – Analyst is responsible for
- Macro, technical and fundamental analysis of sectors and asset classes across the credit market by constructing robust analytics and updating our existing toolkit
- Deliver high quality ABS/CLO analysis and support risk-taking by helping to produce commercial, best-in-class credit analysis, delivered in a client-centric fashion
- Generation of trade ideas
- Participation on the development of research notes and other publications
- Database maintenance and update:
- Maintaining and update of analytics: E.g. spread Databases, Credit market Dashboards, Supply models, Demand indicators, Positioning Indicators, Credit Score cards, etc.
- Compiling industry/sector/asset class data as needed
- Maintaining and update of CLO/ABS databases: spreads, returns, relative value, dashboard reports
- Build database of legal scores for us and euro CLOs
- Digitalisation/automation and ad hoc projects:
- Migrate existing models and analytics from “Testing” environment to “Production” environment. Automate models, databases and dashboards so that the team can focus on analysis.
- Build credit spread and credit metadata database based on Iboxx files in a way that can be easily consulted. (E.g. sector composition for each rating bucket, etc.)
- Help automate CLO/ABS reports
- Quantitative Research development :
- Aggregate and coordinate the publication process (weeklies, monthlies, Outlooks, CLO Trackers, ABS & CLO movers)
- Contribution to Weekly publications: Idea generation, helping senior strategists with writing, development of ad-hoc analysis, etc.
- Contribution to Monthly and bi-annual outlooks: Idea generation, helping senior strategists with writing, development of ad-hoc analysis, etc.
- Regular updates to the team on the results coming from the analytics and databases being managed, with: main findings, implications for credit markets and trade ideas.
- Development of new analytics (factor models for credit, directional strategies, regimes studies and development of quantitative trading strategies) with help and guidance from senior strategists
- Actively read academic and industry research to innovate and keep C360 team research at the forefront of the industry and academic standards
- Marketing research:
- Reply to sales, Trader and client requests
- Update client presentations and support during monthly credit calls
Profile and Skills to Success
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, Economy, Finance, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Operational Research or Equivalent
- 1-4 years of professional experience in Engineering (quant / maths / models / programming), Financial Analysis, Financial markets, Economy or similar
- Genuine interest in financial markets
- Fluency in English both oral and written (mandatory)
- Experience with Python and very experienced with excel
- Good understanding of financial analysis and macro drivers
- Some experience with time series modelling
- Very good analytical and quantitative skills
- Reliability and capacity to deliver;
- Creative approach to problem solving with attention to detail
- Ability to process large amount of data and make extractions from various systems
About the Team
- BNP Paribas PCM is responsible for the primary (new issuance) and secondary trading of corporate (fins and non-fins) debt and related instruments such as CDS, indices, options and structured products. It comprises different roles such as syndicate, debt capital markets, trading, sales, structuring and desk analysts
- The Credit Trading Desk Analyst team (C360) is part of Global Markets PCM and is responsible for the in-depth fundamental credit analysis of corporates and sectors, monitoring of trading risk, generation of trade ideas, marketing of trade ideas and views on the market to institutional investors via regular write-ups
