Position description

The Applications Engineer is primarily responsible for providing technical support to field sales personnel and customers, including new product introduction and testing, application testing, trouble shooting, sales presentations, and product training.

The Applications Engineer will:

  • Lead new product development projects, consistent with the strategic direction of product management
  • Build and maintain internal and external networks of subject matter experts. Attend trade shows, industry seminars, and technical training
  • Provide written progress reports on technical support requests under his/her responsibility
  • Collect, consolidate and publish product data
  • Provide engineering support to customer service personnel, including customer specification review, and product selection
  • Respond to customer applications issues and initiate corrective action

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Master's Degree in mechanical or chemical engineering or related engineering field OR Bachelor's Degree in mechanical or chemical engineering or related engineering field and two years of related experience

Work Experience:

  • Prior experience in customer service or sales preferred
  • Experience working directory with customers on specification development preferred
  • Experience using statistical tools for process capability analysis preferred

Practical/Technical Knowledge:

  • Excellent communication/presentations skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to interact with customers and management at all levels
  • Strong computer skills, Excel/PowerPoint/MiniTab
  • ISO 9001 Quality Systems Management - Auditor Training Certification preferred

The Engineering Services Team supports 5 major brands, more than 50 product families, and many thousand individual part configurations. Constant attention must be paid to understanding the aspect of our products that bring distinctive value to our customers. The position interacts with customers in a highly technical manner where a thorough understanding of customer's processes is vitally important.
