Introduction to the job

Are you looking to design the electrical systems of the ASML Metrology products? Do you want to apply your broad knowledge to cover a large scope, but still dive deep into challenging technical challenges? We are looking for a seasoned electrical design engineer who wants to grow towards an architect or team lead position (and beyond). You will be part of various Yieldstar projects, Yieldstar projects have a nice balance in complexity; you will be able to oversee the whole product, but will still encounter a very wide range of design challenges, ranging from optical column, sensing, wafer positioning and electrical layout, both for new developments as installed base, which means you have to be able to keep many balls in the air. With the other designers you will work in a diverse group of 25 electrical engineers. When starting the job there will be a lot of ASML specifics to learn, but with a learning plan, a buddy and help from your colleagues we will get you up to speed quickly.

Role and responsibilities

The Design Engineer defines and realizes the development of the electronics with a big scope. You start on system level where you iron out the electrical interfaces between all modules, while creating its schematics. These modules consist of mains voltage systems, cabinets with electronics racks, control PCBA’s, PLC’s, computer systems, and their connectivity. You will also design passive PCBA’s and manage farm out projects of larger PCBA’s internally and externally. You will cooperate with many other designers, integrators, architects, which will help to build a broad network within the company.

As an Experienced Design Engineer, you are responsible for:

  • Translate system requirements into specifications of electrical modules
  • Design these modules on specification, diagnostics and schematics level
  • Mains distribution
  • PCBA level
  • Safety control
  • PLC
  • Interconnects; cables and connectors
  • Select existing PCBA’s or initiate new designs (think of amplifier boards, safety interface boards, connection boards, etc).
  • Interface with all relevant stakeholders, especially the architects on high level specs, integrators to make sure the design is verifiable, electromechanical engineers so they can create the 3D design/technical documentation
  • Keep close taps with supply quality engineers and sourcing to make sure manufacturability and cost targets can be met, plus to make sure the correct supplier selection is done
  • Transfer your knowledge to production and service engineers
  • Drive outsource activities at partners
  • Own plan and planning
  • Contribute to the technical roadmap
  • Take on broader design challenges, like driving the cost price or energy usage of our products down

Education and experience

Secondary vocational education in electrical engineering or similar (Dutch: MBO-4 education with HBO thinking and acting attitude)

  • 3+ years of electrical design experience
  • Writing of technical documentation
  • Technical knowledge of mechanical concepts, wiring concepts and connectivity concepts
  • Familiar with electrical safety basics
  • Basic knowledge of software
  • Experience with working in multidisciplinary design teams
  • Familiar with SAFe - Agile wow is a plus
