Your Impact

Our Water Infrastructure team in New Zealand comprises technical specialists, designers, and engineers who work together in a vibrant environment, embracing inclusion, diversity and flexibility. We are delivering some of New Zealand’s most iconic water projects and providing outstanding engineering solutions to our clients, embracing sustainable solutions which demonstrate social value for Aotearoa. 

Based in Wellington we are looking to appoint a Principal Consultant (Water Infrastructure) for our New Zealand operations. The purpose of this role is to strategically position Jacobs for the successful procurement and delivery of water projects and programmes and to support delivery of these projects and programmes by providing project directorship, strategic oversight, and project delivery guidance. Significant client engagement will be required, devoting efforts to activities which will provide visibility of project opportunities, and assist and advise Jacobs to strategically secure key projects and programmes within the market. You will lead and mentor staff – growing our Wellington team, contribute to business and sales planning activities, and assist and advise on growth opportunities and innovation.

The role will also include performance as the Designated Project Executive on projects for the successful achievement of the project objectives and meeting the project quality and financials obligations of the company.

  • Sound understanding of the New Zealand water industry and an established network
  • Strong project management and leadership skills
  • Commercial acumen - able to negotiate and resolve conflict through relationship and stakeholder management
  • Proven ability to organize, direct, and motivate multidisciplinary teams to deliver strategic outcomes
  • Drive and a willingness to take initiative and solve complex problems
  • Strong communication, team leadership and staff mentoring skills
  • An engineering degree or equivalent qualification
