Role Description: We are searching for a Business Intelligence Developer to join the Business Analytics team at CoStar, a leading global commercial real estate information, analytics, and news platform. The ideal candidate should possess excellent problem-solving and communication skills as they will work to solve business processes and reporting issues. The Business Intelligence Developer will develop in SQL Server and also assist in designing and building dashboards and ad-hoc reporting for end-users using Power BI.

The Business Intelligence Developer will work closely with business leaders to solve their most pressing needs and must be their own project manager and when needed a project lead for deliverables that will take multiple members of the team. This candidate may create specifications for reports based on business requests. This is a technical role focused on understanding business needs, solving problems and building solutions. This is a highly technical role but requires critical thinking, problem-solving, project management and outstanding communication in order to be successful. You can have a great impact on the business process and strategy through reporting and analytics.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build dashboards for employees, managers, and directors to track work and gain insights into progress made towards goals. 
  • Build and deliver ad-hoc reporting. 
  • Partner across departments to identify key information gaps and plans to provide or obtain that information. 
  • Performs technical troubleshooting, code debugging, and problem solving for custom built data warehousing solutions. 
  • Create data sets in SQL from existing company applications. 
  • Write SQL stored procedures, jobs and/or ETL scripts to monitor work done by employees. 
  • Perform ad hoc analysis to identify process improvement opportunities and/or trends to determine effectiveness. 
  • Identifies, communicates, and resolves data quality and data reconciliation issues. 
  • Communicate with nontechnical business users to determine specific business requirements for reports and business intelligence solutions. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited, not-for-profit University or College.
  • A track record of commitment to prior employers.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Business Analytics, Data Science, or a relevant data-driven role.
  • Mastery in SQL and BI Reporting.
  • Experience developing analytical frameworks, metrics to measure ongoing performance and understand performance drivers.
  • Ability to transform data into a digestible and presentable story based on different audiences.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and gritty, when you have a goal, you find a way to meet it.
  • A team player with project management skills and high attention to detail.
  • An analytical and growth-oriented mindset.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
