Overview:

Materials Engineering with product development skillset on components portions of Aircraft systems – Evacuation/ice Protection Systems. Develops or improves products and facilitates manufacturing operations. Collaborates with cross functional team including the business units in India and USA. Meets program schedules and budgets.

Position: Lead Engineer (P2) – Materials Engineer – Elastomer

Must have Skillsets: Experience in various elastomeric materials, formulation development, processing testing & failure analysis, statistical data analysis. Engineering Change management process, Good Mechanical Technical knowledge and communication skills, Obsolescence knowledge, Stakeholder Communication, Documentation, Project Planning and Risk Management,

Good to have: Manufacturing process knowledge, GD and T, Teamcenter. CAD.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Should have 4-6 years of strong technical expertise and familiar with rubber compounding/ formulation development.
  • Flexible and volunteering to work on different problems/tasks with cross functional team and seek new challenges.
  • Exposure to Testing equipment's like Instron, TGA /DSC, FTIR, etc.
  • Knowledge of various testing methods like ASTM, ISO, DIN and exposure to testing of Plastic and Rubber compounds using these standards.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with EHS regulations and in accordance with Quality.
  • Shall have experience on R&D level of rubber coating extrusion/ lamination and coating process.
  • Develop technical specifications required for materials and process. .
  • Identify the scope of improvement in supplier coating operation and initiate projects for productivity improvement, cost reduction and quality improvement.
  • Work with technical staffs, operate extruder ,mixer and injection molding and ancillary equipment with a variety of work specification to produce compounded material, test coupons or other prototypes / parts from final compound.
  • Documentation and preparation of material specifications for coated fabric materials.
  • Flexible and volunteering to work on different problems/tasks with cross functional team and seek new challenges.
  • Help to maintain laboratory processing equipment in good working condition.
  • Expertise in process development and technology transfer from lab to plant scale.
  • Participate in development of scale up, qualifying the process per testing plan and procedure, data analysis, and communicating the results.
  • Understanding of mechanical systems, components, and their life cycles. Systems
  • Participates in Engineering Change Management Process thru Teamcenter.
  • Developing and implementing plans to address obsolescence issues in a timely manner.
  • Identifying and managing risks associated with obsolescence within project timelines and budgets.
  • Effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders about obsolescence issues and mitigation plans.
  • Ability to read, understand and create technical drawings, sketches.
  • Attention to details to ensure high quality work to customers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Should have 4-6 years of strong technical expertise and familiar with rubber compounding/ formulation development and Product Development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Rubber/ Polymer Technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge on product design, materials, and manufacturing processes
